Senior Executive Assistant

CACIArlington, VA

About The Position

CACI is seeking a highly experienced and exceptionally capable Executive Assistant to provide comprehensive, high-level administrative and operational support to the Chief Information Officer (CIO) within Diplomatic Security’s Executive Directorate, Office of the Chief Technology Officer (DS/EX/CTO). This is a dynamic, fast-paced role requiring a seasoned professional with a proven track record of supporting C-suite or senior government executives, preferably within federal or federal contracting environments. The ideal candidate is a proactive, detail-oriented professional who operates with discretion, sound judgment, and a high degree of initiative. Serving as a trusted partner to the CIO, this individual will act as a critical force multiplier—managing complex calendars, prioritizing high-visibility communications, and enabling seamless coordination across Diplomatic Security components, Department of State leadership, interagency partners, and external stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Minimum 10+ years of progressive experience as an Executive Assistant, Senior Administrative Assistant, or Chief of Staff support role.
  • Expert-level proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams) and collaboration tools (SharePoint, Zoom, WebEx).
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills; ability to draft and edit executive-level documents with minimal oversight.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to interact confidently with senior government officials, C-suite executives, and external stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle highly sensitive and confidential information with absolute discretion and professionalism.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills with extreme attention to detail.
  • Ability to work extended hours, adjust to shifting priorities, and be available outside normal business hours when needed.
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain and maintain a clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience supporting a federal agency CIO, Deputy CIO, or IT-focused executive within a government or government contracting environment.
  • Familiarity with federal acquisition, procurement, or compliance processes (FAR, DFARS).
  • Experience with government travel systems (e.g., Concur, E2 Solutions, DTS).
  • Experience with task and project management tools (e.g., Jira, Asana, Microsoft Project).
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Communications, or a related field.

Responsibilities

  • Manage a complex, high-volume executive calendar for the CIO — anticipating conflicts, coordinating across government agencies and senior leadership, and preparing daily briefings with agendas, background materials, and action items.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the CIO's office and internal teams, government clients, subcontractors, and executive leadership; screen and triage high-priority communications and draft correspondence on the CIO's behalf.
  • Plan and support senior-level meetings, executive briefings, and events — including logistics, read-aheads, and follow-up tracking to ensure decisions and action items are executed.
  • Coordinate complex domestic and international travel arrangements; prepare detailed itineraries and briefing packages, and manage expense reconciliation in compliance with company and government policies.
  • Track CIO-level priorities, projects, and deliverables across program teams and government counterparts; proactively surface risks and support strategic initiatives and special projects as directed.
