About The Position

Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center located in Woodbridge, VA is looking for a Full-time Senior Environmental Service Tech Senior Environmental Services (EVS) Tech supervises daily cleaning/janitorial operations, leads a team, ensures high cleanliness/sanitation standards (especially in healthcare), trains staff on protocols (like green cleaning, PPE, infection control), manages supplies, creates schedules, inspects work, and reports to management, focusing on creating a safe, hygienic environment for patients, staff, or occupants. Key duties involve hands-on cleaning, team leadership, adherence to standards (e.g., hospital guidelines), and coordination with other departments. Schedule: M-F 7am-330pm with rotating weekends

Requirements

  • High school diploma
  • 3 years of Environmental Services experience
  • Certification - obtain CHEST certification per job profile and Hazardous Waste training in first year
  • Strong leadership, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of cleaning techniques, chemicals, infection control, and safety protocols.
  • Ability to work with PPE and lift/move supplies.
  • Understanding of facility-specific needs

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Supervise, train, schedule, and evaluate EVS staff; provide guidance and performance feedback.
  • Operations Management: Oversee daily cleaning, sanitation, and maintenance tasks in assigned areas (e.g., patient rooms, common areas, offices).
  • Quality Assurance: Inspect work, conduct audits, and investigate issues to ensure high standards are met.
  • Standards & Compliance: Ensure adherence to infection control, chemical safety, waste management, and other regulatory standards (crucial in healthcare).
  • Resource Management: Monitor, inventory, and distribute cleaning supplies and equipment; report needs.
  • Coordination: Communicate with other departments (nursing, maintenance) to coordinate tasks and address facility needs.
  • Hands-On Work: Perform cleaning duties as needed, including operating equipment and deep cleaning.
