Senior Equipment Operator - District Five / Oviedo Maintenance This position upon receipt of the required CDL Instructional Permit or license; operates vehicles and a variety of large equipment to include, but not limited to; road graders, sewer cleaner and hydraulic excavators in bridge and roadway maintenance. Requirements

Due to the nature of this position, the incumbent must respond to emergencies and be “on-call” (24-hour duty) when necessary.
While on-duty status, the position’s incumbent must be readily available to operate a commercial motor vehicle (CMV) consistent with the type of Commercial Driver's License (CDL) the incumbent is required to possess or on a routine basis performs other CMV safety-sensitive functions.
Possess a valid Class "A" CDL Instructional Permit. Obtain a valid Class "A" CDL within 10 months of appointment to the position.
Must obtain certification in Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic) - Intermediate Level within one year and maintain it.
The incumbent of this position is required to work with or around Department of Corrections inmates.
Requires two years of experience in operating small/medium equipment and vehicles.
Possess a valid Class “A” CDL Instructional Permit. Obtain a valid Class “A” CDL within 10 months of appointment to the position.
This position requires a valid Class E driver license with an acceptable driving record in accordance with the Department’s Driver’s Record Requirements Policy.

Responsibilities

Upon receipt of the required CDL Instructional Permit or license; operates vehicles and a variety of large equipment to include, but not limited to; road graders, sewer cleaner and hydraulic excavators in bridge and roadway maintenance. Performs minor maintenance and servicing work in connection with any type of equipment operated including but not limited to: check and add fluids, checks/adjust breaks, maintains proper air pressure in all tires, etc. Cleans and washes equipment.
Coordinates, participates, and directs the maintenance activity of the assigned crew. Assists in selecting materials, supplies, equipment, inspecting, planning workloads, workflows, deadlines, work objectives and time utilization with employees. Maintains records of operation. Prepares and maintains daily paperwork such as crew activity reports and daily vehicle check lists.
Performs independent manual labor incidental to job assignments.
Performs Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic).
Performs rough carpentry, masonry, painting and/or assist in the assembly and erection of highway signs.
Trains crew members in the operation of heavy equipment and of basic Temporary Traffic Control (Maintenance of Traffic). Assists with crew activity reports as needed.
