About The Position

We are looking for an experienced technician to help bring our robots to life. You’ll wrench on large AGVs that lift and carry entire cars, wire up robotic actuators, sensors, data infrastructure and computer systems. Depending on the project, some of the work will be prototyping and R&D, and some will be figuring out initial New Product Introduction (NPI) processes and procedures. You will also get to build and operate various test fixtures and document that testing. And all along the way, you will lead and/or assist with some challenging troubleshooting. Your mechanical and electrical skills will be challenged regularly. If you can do the following, you will level up before you know it:

Requirements

  • At least 8 years demonstrated experience building electromechanical products (either within product development or manufacturing organizations)
  • Proven history of working cross-functionally to troubleshoot electrical/mechanical problems
  • Ability to read basic electrical schematics
  • Ability to write (and follow!) detailed work instructions
  • Experience with using basic lab and assembly equipment such as digital multimeters, micrometers, power supplies, soldering iron, power tools, etc.
  • Excellent skill with hand tools - think auto shop but for robots
  • Reliable, hard-working, and ability to work independently
  • Good verbal and written communication skills
  • Good time management skills
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs with or without assistance, as needed, up/down two flights of stairs
  • Must have a valid driver's license and own transportation

Nice To Haves

  • Education Level: Associate's Degree in mechanical, electrical, automotive or equivalent work experience
  • Dangerous hobbies a plus

Responsibilities

  • Assemble everything from simple wire harnesses and subassemblies up to complete robots
  • Work closely with engineering to bring up and troubleshoot prototypes and finished products
  • Run diagnostics and other tests, log results as required
  • Help write procedures and train others
  • Collaborate with engineering to assemble and operate test fixtures
  • Perform incoming inspection of components and quality testing on completed products
  • Bring a positive attitude to work onsite at our South San Francisco office five days a week
