About The Position

Sydecar is on a mission to transform the world of private markets. Our goal is to make these markets more accessible, transparent, and liquid, and we're achieving this by revolutionizing the way investment vehicles are created and executed. At Sydecar, we're not just a platform; we're a trusted partner in venture capital. We're dedicated to simplifying and standardizing the private investing experience, empowering capital allocators to discover and support visionary entrepreneurs who are shaping the future. Our platform is designed with ease and efficiency in mind. We take care of all the behind-the-scenes tasks, from automating banking, ensuring compliance, handling contracts, managing taxes, to streamlining reporting. This leaves investors the freedom to concentrate on what matters most: making valuable deals and nurturing meaningful relationships. Join us at Sydecar, as we lead the charge in revolutionizing private investing. We’re hiring an Engineering Manager to lead one of our core product engineering teams. This role combines deeply involved technical leadership with people management, requiring someone who can build high-performing teams while maintaining our focus on delivering exceptional user experiences. You’ll drive business-critical initiatives, grow a high-performing engineering team, and work cross-functionally to deliver outcomes that move the company forward. You’ll play a key role in turning strategic goals into shipped product—combining technical leadership, strong execution, and product thinking to ensure we’re building the right things in the right way. This role is ideal for someone who leads with clarity, values ownership, and is energized by building alongside a kind, collaborative team. This is not a pure people-management role, but a high-leverage leadership position that demands technical depth and strong product intuition.

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of engineering management experience in fast-moving, product-led environments
  • 8 or more years of hands-on software engineering experience, with the ability to support technical design and strategy
  • A track record of leading teams that have shipped meaningful, high-impact product work
  • Product fluency. You understand how software is built end-to-end and how technical work connects to user outcomes and business goals. You are deeply involved in product strategy, flexibly overlapping responsibilities with your Product Manager partners.
  • Systems thinking. You consider how engineering decisions influence architecture, execution, team health, and customer experience.
  • Clarity creator. You help teams move forward in uncertainty by breaking down complexity and communicating clearly.
  • Builder’s mindset. You enjoy solving open-ended problems and thrive in dynamic, evolving environments.

Responsibilities

  • Own business-critical initiatives by partnering with Product and Design to define and deliver work that creates real user and business value
  • Translate company strategy into clear, actionable technical plans with measurable outcomes
  • Prioritize the highest-impact work and create focus within the team even when goals are evolving
  • Lead effectively in ambiguity by structuring complex problem spaces and creating alignment around what matters most
  • Guide architectural thinking and support strong technical decisions without becoming a bottleneck
  • Help the team balance delivery speed with technical sustainability
  • Set a high bar for quality by encouraging craftsmanship, operational rigor, and scalable thinking
  • Build a high-trust, high-performing engineering team focused on ownership, urgency, and product impact
  • Invest in the development of engineers and future leaders by creating growth opportunities that align with team goals
  • Act as a force for clarity and alignment across engineering, product, and cross-functional partners
