Job Summary Performs highly advanced and/or supervisory (senior-level) work in the maintenance and repair of electricalequipment and circuits. Performs “hands on” work and is involved in overseeing the installation, replacement, andmaintenance of electrical circuits and equipment. Supervises and is immediately responsible for the work ofElectricians and other assigned personnel. Works under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use ofinitiative and independent judgment. Job Description Overview The Senior Electrician performs advanced and lead level work in the maintenance and repair of electrical equipment and circuits for the City and its departments and facilities. Participates the installation, replacement, and maintenance of electrical circuits and equipment. Essential Functions 1 Oversees and participates in the inspection, testing, and troubleshooting of electrical equipment, lighting, and power circuits for the City and its departments and facilities; develops and implements plans and specifications for maintenance and electrical renovation projects. 2 Estimates time and material used on projects; reviews the layout of electrical wiring to ensure compliance with specifications and electrical codes. 3 Advises, leads, and trains staff and participates in the work performed by other electricians; counsels or assists employees, and communicates performance metrics. 4 Inspects electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair to ensure compliance with electrical codes. 5 Maintains records and prepares reports on repairs and service to equipment; reads and interprets blueprints of electrical diagrams to determine location of equipment and conformance to building and safety codes. 6 Plans, implements, and oversees the installation of electrical systems; plans long-range electrical maintenance programs and communicates standards to crews and electricians. 7 Verifies and approves materials and supplies; plans and conducts training programs for assigned employees or staff. 8 Performs any and all other trades work as needed or assigned.
