About The Position

The Sr. Electrical Engineer (PE required) will support our MEP Engineering Department. This role reviews, designs, and coordinates the electrical scope for new and remodeled supermarket projects and supports construction coordination. The position also evaluates electrical capacity and compatibility for existing stores.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or 10-15 years of electrical design/installation experience in a retail environment.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • Ability to analyze/redline electrical plans and identify solutions.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills; experience interacting directly with clients.

Nice To Haves

  • Supermarket electrical systems experience preferred.
  • Experience with refrigeration systems beneficial.
  • AutoCAD experience beneficial (not required)

Responsibilities

  • Prepare electrical plans, circuit grouping, equipment selection/specifications and equipment layouts.
  • Utilize AutoCAD to develop electrical system designs.
  • Coordinate electrical design with Energy Management, Store Planning, and A/E teams.
  • Review and support electrical requirements for new technologies and systems, ensuring optimal equipment selection related to energy use, environmental impact, maintenance, and cost.
  • Develop and review electrical bid packages, including addendums for refrigeration, HVAC, and EMS specifications.
  • Purchase electrical equipment, issue requisitions for large orders, and sign invoices when required.
  • Coordinate and resolve equipment quality, delivery, and installation issues with project management, purchasing, vendors, and contractors; assess installation quality.
  • Support sequencing of work, temporary and permanent electrical connections.
  • Investigate system design changes and provide recommendations.
  • Assist in researching and evaluating new equipment, vendors, contractors, and methods for performance, cost, and quality.
  • Work with vendors to develop high‑quality equipment that meets performance and merchandising requirements.
  • Travel up to 15%.
