About The Position

IMEG is hiring a Senior Electrical Designer in Phoenix, AZ, to lead design efforts as a project manager or lead designer for moderate to complex projects and support delivery of larger, high-complexity work with limited senior-staff support. You’ll work closely with engineers and consultants to provide project direction, engineering solutions, and advice to clients, with responsibilities spanning project management, engineering analysis, design, and implementation oversight of building electrical systems. You’ll also support budget management, training and mentoring efforts, and cross-functional collaboration to meet project goals and client expectations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Electrical Engineering, or equivalent required
  • 7 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the building design consulting industry OR Associates degree, or certificate, in Building Information Modeling (BIM) or Engineering preferred
  • 11 years of experience minimum required, 12 preferred, in the building design consulting or construction industry
  • Adept in the technical aspects of one’s discipline; advanced proficiency in technical and analytical skills including proficiency of principles of circuit theory, electromagnetism, power systems, and electronics as they relate to electrical systems
  • Knowledge of Illumination Engineering Society (IES) Standards and reference material resources such as NFPA Link, TechStreet, MadCAD, and Facility Guideline Institution (FGI)
  • Advanced proficiency of Master Specification editing and software such as eSPECS; Proficient with Adobe or Bluebeam Revu
  • Ability to mentor, train, motivate, and lead others
  • Ability to perform final quality control check in their area of expertise
  • Ability to sell work and develop client relationships
  • Strong training and mentoring skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills; Ability to clearly communicate in both oral and written communication to individuals or groups
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Ability to travel up to 20% with occasional overnight stays

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, oversee and manage projects ranging in size and complexity
  • Assist Project Executives and Client Executives with design scopes of work and fee calculations for proposal generation as well as with contract reviews
  • Create project schedules including targets for milestones and deadlines
  • Serve as the point of contact for teams and clients
  • Create monthly billings and submit financial information to Accounting in a timely manner; Update billing projections and estimated completion percentage for all projects monthly
  • Ensure design follows owner standards and requirements, IMEG standards and code requirements; Ensure design milestone deliverables are achieved, IMEG and client quality control processes are completed, and construction technical support occurs in a timely manner
  • Collaborate with design staff and coordinate scheduling of projects during all phases of design and construction; Schedule and lead progress meetings and provide meeting documentation
  • Conduct construction site visits and provide documentation as needed or requested
  • Respond to and resolve client / construction concerns; Manage change orders and obtain appropriate approvals
  • Train, mentor, and motivate staff
  • Build, maintain, and develop client relationships
