About The Position

Senior Director of Learning & Development – Capital One Auto Sales Capital One is seeking a Senior Director of Learning to lead the evolution of our Auto Sales learning and development strategy. This pivotal role will be responsible for designing and managing a comprehensive learning ecosystem that drives world-class sales performance, associate effectiveness, and career growth for more than 700 sales associates. Our sales organization serves as the face of Capital One Auto Finance, supporting approximately 18,000 dealerships across the country. We are looking for a bold, visionary leader to architect the next chapter of L&D, transforming our current programs into an industry-leading system that attracts and retains the best talent in the business.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent certification.
  • At least 7 years of experience in Learning & Development.
  • At least 6 years of People Leadership experience.
  • At least 6 years of Relationship Management experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Business, or Organizational Development.
  • 4+ years of experience leading an L&D organization supporting Sales, Customer Operations, or a high-growth environment.
  • 7+ years of experience developing and implementing learning strategies in partnership with executive stakeholders.
  • Exceptional business acumen with the ability to translate complex sales objectives into clear, scalable learning solutions.
  • Proven experience in L&D transformation, utilizing modern delivery methods like microlearning, gamification, and AI-driven tools.

Responsibilities

  • Define and execute a long-term learning and knowledge management strategy specifically tailored for Outside Sales (field-based dealer support) and Inside Sales (phone-based support teams).
  • Architect the "New Chapter" of L&D, moving beyond traditional training to create a scalable ecosystem that helps associates learn in the flow of work.
  • Act as a thought leader by evaluating and installing cutting-edge learning technologies and tools to modernize the sales experience.
  • Lead and mentor a high-performing team of 5–8 Learning and Development professionals.
  • Foster a culture of innovation and bold leadership, driving the team to move from a support function to a strategic business partner.
  • Oversee the development of critical learning paths for the outside sales function to ensure they are equipped to provide elite support to dealer partners.
  • Standardize New Hire Onboarding to reduce time-to-proficiency, ensuring new sales associates hit the ground running with the tools they need to succeed.
  • Implement Continuous Learning for upskilling in sales techniques, new product launches, and collaborative "teaming" between inside and outside sales functions.
  • Oversee recruiting strategies while you won’t own the recruiting function of Capital One, this leader will oversee the strategy of recruiting the best talent for our sales organization through innovative ways to attract best in class talent
  • Partner with Sales Leadership to establish KPIs and metrics (e.g., dealer engagement, sales volume, and quality) to measure the ROI of learning initiatives.
  • Serve as the primary learning partner to executive leadership within the Auto Sales and Servicing Strategy teams.
  • Utilize data and analytics to identify performance gaps and prioritize learning interventions that drive dealership growth.
