About The Position

The Senior Director of Curriculum & Assessment is responsible for overseeing and facilitating Education and Learning’s institutional curriculum and student learning assessment. The director ensures that these activities align with the College’s philosophy, mission, and goals. This position will coordinate and oversee the process for the academic evaluation of all programs, certificates and courses that provide a comprehensive assessment of student learning outcomes across the college, in alignment with the expectations of the New Mexico Higher Education Department (NMHED) and Higher Learning Commission (HLC). This position also facilitates and coordinates the CNM academic assessment academy, the Student Academic Assessment Committee and serves as the lead member for Education & Learning on the Collegewide Integrated Program Review (CIPR) team as well as serves as liaison with the College Curriculum Committee and related processes. The senior director leads and oversees all processes related to the catalog and college curriculum while also promoting the analysis of assessment data, overseeing the framing and preparation of assessment conclusions for delivery to a variety of audiences. The Senior Director of Curriculum & Assessment plays a critical role in linking with others at the college on student learning outcomes, curriculum and program evaluation and assessment plans. The senior director will report to the Associate Vice President of Education & Learning.

Requirements

  • Master's degree
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated post-secondary experience including experience in Assessment and Curriculum processes/review

Nice To Haves

  • Doctoral degree in Education, Higher Education Administration, Curriculum & Instruction, or a related field.
  • Experience leading curriculum development and institutional assessment initiatives using technology systems/platforms at a community college or similarly complex higher education institution and experience overseeing implementation or optimization of such systems.
  • Proven ability to use and communicate assessment data to drive institutional decision-making, continuous improvement, and student success strategies to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience developing and implementing policies and procedures related to curriculum and academic program assessment and facilitating faculty development, training, or workshops related to curriculum design and assessment practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with regional accreditation processes, particularly with the Higher Learning Commission (HLC), including preparing reports and supporting accreditation reviews.

Responsibilities

  • Directs, leads, and manages staff, which includes prioritizing, and assigning work; conducting performance evaluations; ensuring staff is trained; ensuring employees follow policies and procedures; maintaining a healthy, and safe working environment; and, making hiring, termination, and disciplinary recommendations.
  • Leads, coordinates, and supports the College's curriculum and assessment efforts, collaborating with instructional teams and faculty to develop systematic assessment plans for academic programs.
  • Cultivates a culture of data-supported decision-making across the institution to uphold the quality standard of ‘Ease’.
  • Oversees the preparation of assessment outcomes for various audiences and serves as the lead for institutional accreditation efforts within Education & Learning.
  • Supervises and leads the development of policies and procedures governing the assessment of CNM academic programs/certificates.
  • Collaborates with ODS partners and ITS, ensuring compliance with HLC requirements and all applicable regulations.
  • Works with department leaders and faculty to assess and monitor the quality of academic programs/certificates and General Education courses across multiple learning modalities.
  • Oversees the implementation of the assessment platform for CNM and recommends necessary changes or upgrades.
  • Collaborates with Academic Affairs, Enrollment Management, and Student Success to support strategic approaches to student success and continuous improvement.
  • Provides leadership to college curriculum development, revision, and approval processes.
  • Generates internal and external reports summarizing assessment activities and results.
  • Organizes faculty development opportunities related to curriculum and assessment efforts, including training on various assessment methods and techniques.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
