I. General Summary Under supervision of the Senior Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer, provides leadership in the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of professional development programs for nursing and patient care services at the University of Maryland Medical Center (Downtown and Midtown Campuses) with focus on clinical excellence, quality, professional advancement, practice, education and inquiry. The Senior Director provides strategic leadership and expertise in the translation of innovation, discovery, inquiry and evidence-based practice to achieve optimal service, quality, patient safety, staff safety and clinical excellence that align with the mission, vision, and values of the organization. Responsible for the quality of clinical services and education delivered to ensure competency and performance of nursing and patient care services staff. Provides oversight of patient care and nursing care delivery outcome evaluation. Accountable for continuous ANCC Magnet Recognition Program® re-designation. II. Principal Responsibilities and Tasks The following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this classification. Using knowledge translation theory, leads the Clinical Education and Clinical Practice service lines in the Department of Clinical Practice and Professional Development in supporting clinical units and divisions in the design and implementation of sustainable protocols and programs to promote positive outcomes for patients and system. Promotes and facilitates the integration of clinical education and clinical practice across the Downtown and Midtown campuses.
