About The Position

The Senior Director, Consumer Insights will lead Shake Shack’s enterprise consumer insights and guest analytics strategy. This role will combine consumer research, behavioral data, and advanced analytics to inform strategic decisions across marketing, digital, menu innovation, and operations. This leader will build and scale a best-in-class insights capability that integrates research and data analytics to provide a holistic understanding of Shake Shack guests. The ideal candidate brings a strong analytical foundation, deep expertise in consumer behavior, and the ability to translate complex data into clear strategic recommendations for executive leadership.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in Consumer Insights, Analytics, Market Research, or Strategy roles.
  • Experience leading insights or analytics teams at the Director or Senior Director level.
  • Strong analytical expertise including segmentation, consumer behavior analysis, and research methodologies.
  • Experience working with large datasets and analytics tools such as SQL, Tableau, Power BI, or similar platforms.
  • Familiarity with CRM, loyalty data, and digital analytics environments.
  • Proven ability to translate data and research into actionable business strategies.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Analytics, Statistics, Economics, or related field

Nice To Haves

  • Experience within QSR, fast-casual, retail, or consumer brands preferred.
  • MBA or advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Define and lead the enterprise consumer insights strategy to support brand growth, marketing effectiveness, and guest experience.
  • Build and lead a high-performing insights team spanning consumer research, guest analytics, and market intelligence.
  • Develop advanced guest segmentation and behavioral frameworks to better understand motivations, needs, and purchase drivers.
  • Leverage CRM, loyalty, digital ordering, and transactional data to generate actionable insights that drive acquisition, retention, and lifetime value.
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Digital, Menu Innovation, Operations, and Data teams to embed insights into key strategic initiatives.
  • Lead consumer and market research initiatives including brand health tracking, innovation testing, guest journey research, and competitive intelligence.
  • Develop and oversee marketing measurement capabilities, including Marketing Mix Modeling (MMM), to evaluate media effectiveness and optimize investment decisions.
  • Partner with marketing and analytics teams to build measurement frameworks connecting media exposure, digital engagement, and restaurant sales performance.
  • Deliver clear, compelling insights and strategic recommendations to senior leadership to inform business decisions.
  • Champion a culture of data-driven decision making and strengthen insights storytelling across the organization.
