About The Position

We are seeking a highly driven and experienced Business Development / M&A leader in generic pharma industry to join our North America Group (NAG). This critical role will be instrumental in driving our growth strategy through sourcing and evaluating opportunities including M&A, in-licensing, co-development, and divestitures. The objective of the role is to increase Dr. Reddy's revenues and profits in the North American market through Business Development transactions and explore opportunities to leverage these transactions in other markets, if relevant. The role will be based in Princeton, NJ and report to Head Global Portfolio and Business Development - North America

  • Critical Exposure
  • Should have done at least 1 of the following roles within the pharma industry for a minimum of 2 years :
  • Business Development head/ sales head and alliance head in a smaller BU / Geography with exposure to in-licensing and/or out-licensing
  • Corporate strategy role in API / Biologics / Biosimilars / Formulations / Licensing with exposure to product life cycle management and product evaluation
  • Past experiences should include a min 5 years in any of the 2 roles/exposures listed below:
  • Business Development manager/ sales manager in any geography where he /she has had exposure to the deal value of minimum USD 1 million or its geographical equivalent (API/Formulations / In-licensing) or Sales Revenue of USD 10 million per annum or its geographical equivalent
  • M&A manager role in pharma or consulting
  • Mid-senior portfolio management role for a min of 2 years with a prior role in sales (Rx) and/or brand/product management (Rx)
  • Exposure to in-licensing / procurement & negotiation/pharma strategic consulting/ tech platform collaborations in pharma
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident of U.S. or otherwise authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring visa transfer or sponsorship, now or in the future.

Responsibilities

  • You will be responsible for exploring and identifying potential business opportunities such as partnerships, collaborations, licensing, and acquisitions, staying updated on industry trends by connecting with industry peers, smaller pharma start-ups, and bankers, and participating in conferences.
  • You will conduct initial assessments of opportunities in collaboration with Portfolio and Marketing teams to source and evaluate new opportunities to grow the business, defining prospective external R&D partnership requirements with input from R&D, and preparing RFPs (Request for Proposals) outlining identified requirements.
  • You will source proposals from business partners, compare capabilities and costs of proposals, and explore the merits of alliances based on gathered information.
  • Collaborate with Portfolio, Marketing, and Business Partner to gather inputs for a business case, you will include product details, development costs, filing and launch plans, patent landscape, sales and pricing projections, and cost of goods in the business case, providing strategic, financial justification, and ROI (Return on Investment) for proposed implementation.
  • You will engage in discussions with business partners to define key financial terms governing agreements, coordinate with legal and draft term sheets/NBOs, conduct negotiations on business terms to reach mutually beneficial agreements, and form cross-functional diligence teams as applicable.
  • Additionally, you will facilitate audits at prospective partner sites, prepare diligence reports summarizing findings from the diligence process, review and revise key assumptions following due diligence findings, and update the business case to incorporate any changes in assumptions.
  • You will also renegotiate key terms with partners based on new information, coordinate with legal to draft agreements and seek input from relevant functional teams, prepare deal memos and obtain clearance from BU (Business Unit)/Corporate, secure final sign-off from the Business Unit Head/CXO, facilitate project handover to the Project Team through internal meetings, provide an overview of deal backgrounds, and introduce the Project Manager to the Business Partner, supervising collaboration and offer support in negotiations.
  • Incumbent should be willing to work in person from our Princeton, NJ office
