Senior Director, Global Production The Senior Director of Global Production is responsible for all global locations producing products for the Ceramics Business Unit. Responsibilities include creation and adherence to a five-year financial/capital budget, team development and performance, creating a continuous improvement culture with a sense of urgency, organizational efficiency while maximizing profitability, and providing excellent customer satisfaction. Additionally, this position champions Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) initiatives for the Ceramics Business Unit in collaboration with the Global EHS Director. A successful incumbent must be a highly motivated strategic thinker and possess the ability to be creative in approaching technical challenges. This role must be an effective liaison between corporate initiatives and able to communicate effectively on the production floor as well as the boardroom.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in business, operations management, engineering or related field
  • 10+ years industry experience
  • Experience of production management and control at a senior level
  • Prior experience managing a multi-site operation
  • Thorough understanding of production processes, management obligations (including statutory obligations), requirements and dynamics
  • Prior experience with project management
  • Prior experience developing capital and financial plans as well as responsibility for attaining financial objectives

Nice To Haves

  • Master degree in business, operations management, engineering or related field
  • Preferred experience with a large global organization.
  • Proven track record leading large-scale change and culture development.
  • Experience with Six Sigma a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, manage, and monitor the overall performance of production, driving efficiency and performance within the Business Unit.
  • Develop expense budgets, control expenses across all sites, and be agile with respect to changes in business conditions.
  • Direct, develop, and utilize systems to manage activities, functions, analysis and documentation.
  • Manage performance, development, coaching and general support of all team members to ensure targets are met.
  • Achieve maximum profitability and growth in accordance with organization plans.
  • Direct, manage, and maintain contact with internal and external clients/customers.
  • Operate the business unit manufacturing sites in full EHS and legal compliance.
  • Partner with organizational functions to implement manufacturing policies and programs which drive organizational competitive position and profitability.
  • Develop and implement effective employee and union relations, supporting business unit initiatives and goals.
  • Direct activities that deliver products on schedule, exceeding quality standards and cost objectives.
  • Effectively communicate the strategic direction of operations, develop capital plans in support of and communicate those initiatives with your team, Senior Leadership and the Board of Directors.
  • Drive and support Lean and Six Sigma techniques, quality improvement, cost reduction, on-time delivery, visual controls, and plant performance metrics.
  • Provide leadership for problem resolution, facilitating improvement, corrective actions, while improving working relationships across teams and functions.
  • Create a manufacturing strategy that supports sales growth initiatives, NPI launches and merger/acquisition plans.
  • Collaborate with global operations leader as a member of the global operations council; ensure consistency in program/practices spanning quality, EHS, supply chain, and engineering.
  • Partner with the Continuous Improvement team, driving variable cost productivity through first pass yield improvement, cost out, cycle-time reduction, Etc.
