We are recruiting a Product Leader to champion and execute the strategic vision around testing, including driving automation and increasing speed of execution to enable the organization to deliver new products and services faster. This leader will work closely with internal stakeholders and end-users to help design the future of automated testing of systems, embrace emerging technologies like AI, machine learning, and cloud-based platforms to create efficiencies, and deliver exceptional experiences. Reporting directly to the Head of Financial Systems, this leader will work closely with partners in finance, business, engineering, product, and design to realize the vision for the CFO organization. Location: This is a hybrid role, requiring a minimum, on-site presence of 3 days per week at our offices in Chicago, IL; New York, NY, or Chevy Chase, MD. The Senior Director of Financial Systems is responsible for leading and modernizing testing efforts for the organization's front-end systems and managing a team of testing analysts. The testing team ensures that all transactions initiated through these systems are tracked and monitored as they move downstream through various processes, maintaining the integrity of transactional workflows. This role is focused on increasing the speed of testing efforts through AI and automation while maintaining accuracy and quality, and will be required to oversee selection, implementation, and integration of such tools to improve capabilities. Strong analytical skills and a comprehensive understanding of financial systems processes are essential, along with effective communication abilities for reporting findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in technology, engineering, or related majors is preferred
  • 12+ years of finance and program/product management experience in a complex and large-scale financial organization
  • Strong business acumen and proven track record of being able to understand needs of the business stakeholders and crafting and executing strategy to meet those requirements
  • Demonstrated experience with testing automation, agile product planning, issue resolution
  • Project management skills, including ability to develop project plans, roadmaps, and status reports
  • Deep product ownership expertise, excellent leadership and influencing skills and strong business judgement.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Transaction monitoring: Lead efforts to convert transaction monitoring from initiation in front-end systems to their accurate completion downstream from manual reviews to systematically generated exception-based reviews and validations. Determine the best sustainable approach to correcting issues originating from the front end that affect downstream processes.
  • Process optimization: Drives process improvements, optimize workflows, and enhance reporting reliability. Responsibilities include implementing new tools and facilitating training initiatives to keep the analyst team up to date with best practices.
  • Leadership: Direct daily activities of the analyst team, providing guidance, and ensuring adherence to established testing protocols. Leading efforts to automate for more efficient processing while maintaining integrity of the testing process, ensuring that results are documented, and meeting SLAs for reviewing data fixes, remediations, POCs, etc. Champion a culture of creative problem-solving and innovation within the finance function, exploring and implementing new solutions.
  • Stakeholder collaboration & management: Actively participating in leadership discussions to advocate for the team’s priorities and ensure requirements are factored in planning for strategic initiatives. Engaging with peers across the organization to foster a collaborative environment that promotes knowledge sharing and collective problem-solving, enhancing alignment with broader company objectives. Partner with Product and Tech to ensure that systems requirements, new development, and ongoing maintenance are completed in a timely manner, meeting the needs of both the Finance Team and CFO Team. Ensure escalation protocols are in place for addressing and remediation of issues that may affect transaction accuracy or timeliness.
  • Code deployment and compliance monitoring: Responsible for identifying code moved into lower environments or Production that could impact front end or downstream processes. Requires monitoring of compliance with internal controls and regulatory requirements to ensure all processes adhere to established standards. Proactively assesses risk areas and recommends mitigation strategies to maintain the integrity of financial reporting and operational effectiveness.
  • Reconciliation & reporting: Ensures that transactions are systematically allocated to the correct accounts downstream and addresses any anomalies, spikes, issues, or failures in time for month end, quarter end, and year end reconciliation. Oversee reconciliation of commission payments and Taxes, Fees, and Surcharges (TFS), verifying that calculations align with contractual agreements and state filings. This includes validating the launch and integration of new products and systems in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.
  • Compliance and controls: Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements (SOX) and mitigate risks through robust controls both within the team and in other teams. This includes collaborating with Internal Audit, outside auditors, and Tech partners to effectively manage and resolve system issues, failures, or required remediations.
