About The Position

The Senior Director, Field Medical Affairs will be responsible for ownership and management of field medical activities within the United States. This role will be instrumental in contributing to company-wide initiatives in support of Cristcot’s inaugural ulcerative colitis (UC) therapy launch, ensuring alignment with brand strategies and delivering transformative outcomes for patients. This role serves as a critical link between Cristcot and external healthcare providers (HCPs), establishing strong professional relationships within the US by engaging in compliant exchange of scientific information, clinical trial support or other relevant discussions.

Requirements

MD, PharmD, or PhD, or NP with 10+ years of experience in field medical affairs, with strong clinical knowledge and experience in UC or gastroenterology or rare disease experience preferred
Minimum of 5 years in leadership roles
Proven ability to excel in scientific communication and build relationships with healthcare professionals across all levels (KOL/Academic, community, etc.) and demonstrated proficiency building strong KOL/HCP relationships
Extensive knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements related to field-based medical affairs activities
Experience supporting product launch(es) in specialty categories and successful track record of field engagements in pre-launch/launch/post-launch settings
Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with cross-functional teams within the organization
Ability to develop and implement strategic plans for medical affairs activities, aligning with the overall goals of the organization
Possess a proven ability to effectively communicate complex information, with demonstrated fluency in articulating scientific concepts and data
Skilled at working cross-functionally with teams such as commercial, regulatory, and research & development to ensure aligned and cohesive strategies
Commitment to patient-centric approaches, ensuring the voice and needs of patients are represented in medical and scientific discussions
Ability to think creatively and strategically in developing medical strategies and designing plans for provider engagement
Must have good judgment, ability to adapt and change in a shifting environment
Strategic, passionate, self-starter who takes initiative
Must work well in large and small teams, ability to lead in a remote field environment
Ability to travel frequently; estimated 40-60% of time including occasional weekends

Nice To Haves

Preference for candidates who have worked both within small and medium/large biotech or pharma companies
Experience in small-sized biotech is highly preferable

Responsibilities

Manage a multidisciplinary team of Field Medical Affairs colleagues, including Medical Science Liaisons, Health Outcomes Liaisons, and Field Medical Operations
Lead development of territory engagement plans, with established metrics for appropriate benchmarking
Develop and maintain good working relationships with KOLs, facilitating effective scientific communication and exchange of medical information
Gather relevant clinical & scientific insights from the assigned territory and reporting in a timely manner with internal stakeholders to inform and refine medical strategy
Provide detailed scientific presentations as required to expand awareness of the disease state and relevant clinical data
Ensure compliance with regulatory guidelines in all scientific interactions and communications
Lead key medical initiatives to support advisory boards, investigator-initiated studies (IISs), field-based insights collection and other relevant projects
Support product launch activities by aligning regional territory plans with overall medical affairs and corporate strategy
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including commercial, regulatory and clinical development to ensure strategic alignment
Attend and provide scientific support of US Medical Affairs activities and scientific sessions at regional and national congresses and meetings
Serve as an internal scientific resource for training and educational support
