Apexus is the HRSA’s Office of Pharmacy Affairs awarded contractor to serve as the prime vendor for the 340B Drug Pricing Program. Apexus’ role as the 340B prime vendor is to secure voluntary discounts from manufacturers on 340B outpatient drug purchases, develop a national distribution network, provide compliance information and education, and provide pharmacy related products and services for participating public hospitals, community health centers, and other safety-net health care providers electing to join the program. For more information on Apexus, go to www.apexus.com Summary: In this role, you will provide strategic and operational leadership for Apexus’s contracting portfolio within the 340B pharmacy market. You will lead a team of portfolio executives and administrators in contract development and negotiation strategies, and advance initiatives that support savings for 340B program participants. You will collaborate with internal teams and external clients, guide market strategy, and ensure contracting programs deliver measurable value and savings.

Requirements

  • Relevant degree preferred.
  • 10 or more years of relevant experience required.
  • Experience leading pharmaceutical or specialty pharmacy contracting initiatives within the healthcare industry.
  • Demonstrated expertise in contract negotiation, supplier relations, and market analysis.
  • Strong financial, analytical, and strategic planning skills.
  • Proven ability to lead, develop, and influence teams in a matrixed environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and ability to learn contract and financial management systems.
  • Strong collaboration, adaptability, and stakeholder management capabilities.
  • Willingness to travel.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of portfolio executives and portfolio administrators, providing coaching, mentoring, and performance oversight.
  • Direct contract negotiation and sourcing strategies across pharmaceuticals, specialty pharmacy programs, and related products and services.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with pharmaceutical industry partners, their participation in the 340B program and long-term contracting opportunities.
  • Analyze pharmaceutical healthcare market dynamics, structures, and industry trends to inform contracting strategies.
  • Guide end-to-end contracting activities, including market assessments, value proposition modeling, and negotiation of terms and conditions.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert supporting post-award communication initiatives.
  • Advance process improvement initiatives to operationalize business strategy and standardize contracting workflows.
  • Communicate the value and advantages of Apexus contracting programs to internal teams, pharmaceutical manufacturers, and external stakeholders.
  • Oversee savings outcomes for the contract portfolio.
  • Provide leadership support for hospital and clinic advisory councils.
