About The Position

The Senior Director, Global Sales Organization (GSO) B2B Event Strategy & Experiences is responsible for developing and executing the global strategy for meetings, events, sponsorships, and customer entertainment. This role is responsible for leading a high performing global team that represents Marriott International to stakeholders and executes all B2B customer and industry events. This includes the planning, budgeting and execution of industry tradeshows, internal customer events, and customer advisory boards. The role sets the strategic direction for customer engagement, communicates vision and value to properties and continent leaders, and partners closely with global and regional colleagues to streamline execution, drive efficiency, and maximize impact. This position has full accountability for the P&L across the Global Sales Organization’s events portfolio, including establishing the annual strategic plan, budgets, and investment priorities. The Senior Director brings strong financial acumen with a clear focus on return on investment, using data and performance metrics to evaluate which events, programs, and experiences are worth pursuing and scaling. The role leverages existing partners, agencies, and vendors to optimize resources and extend capabilities while maintaining brand and experience standards. In close collaboration with the GSO leadership team, regional leadership, and marketing partners, this role shapes content, messaging, and engagement strategies that support B2B growth objectives. By applying insights from data, customer feedback, and market trends, the Senior Director ensures that the global meetings, events, sponsorship, and entertainment strategy delivers measurable business value and meaningful customer engagement. This position also serves as a liaison with continent and marketing teams to support B2B marketing initiatives (e.g., group promotions, digital or social campaigns).

Requirements

  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hospitality Management, or related major.
  • 12+ years of relevant professional experience in related function.
  • Previous experience in event management.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a global B2B events team that defines and executes strategies/activities that assist in the achievement of the Global Sales Organization and Account Sales Organizations sales goals.
  • Set clear objectives, initiatives, processes, and standards for B2B events, sponsorships, and entertainment.
  • Partner closely with GSO and continent leadership to understand and align business needs, priorities, and objectives.
  • Develop and manage an integrated annual B2B events calendar providing transparency to field and corporate stakeholders.
  • Create a global sponsorship strategy leveraging data to drive key metrics and ensuring evaluation of dollars spent.
  • Develop meeting agendas, branding, messaging, etc. that tie into the company’s strategic plan and sales mission.
  • Owns the run-of-show and delivery of content for events/activities.
  • Leverage customer research and direct client engagement to inform B2B offerings and revenue growth.
  • Develop processes and tools that will allow tracking and evaluation of customer invites, gifting, and entertaining.
  • Manage budgets for B2B events, entertainment, and sponsorships in alignment with GSO leadership. Ensuring property billing is completed timely and accurately.
  • Serve as the liaison and subject matter expert with global security.
  • Build and lead a best in class global events team covering branding, tradeshows, logistics, vendors, and sponsorships.
  • Establish strong stakeholder relationships and ensure ongoing communication, alignment, and continuous feedback.
  • Create a high performance team culture emphasizing accountability, innovation, and collaboration.
  • Develop talent through clear goals, performance management, and growth planning.
  • Drive continuous improvement of team structures, processes, and leadership accountability.
  • Significant travel required.
