POSITION SUMMARY The Senior Digital Experience Designer works closely with the User Experience Manager to solve complex business challenges while being an advocate for users through extensive knowledge of user-centered design processes. This role will support the Aetna Tech x Design portfolio, working across multiple solutions as needed, and involves hands-on design responsibilities including journey mapping, design research, wire framing, prototyping, alignment to brand standards and UI guidelines, high-fidelity visual design, data visualization and visual hierarchy. What we expect of you - Build an understanding of requirements and ensure deliverables support both user needs and healthcare business goals. Apply user-centered design thinking and select the right approach for each problem. Advocate for user-centricity early in the design process, validating requirements through an understanding of user needs, pain points, and mental models. Support early alignment on solution direction through user flows, low-fidelity sketches, and test-and-learn cycles. Create and deliver detailed designs and prototypes that support end-to-end user journeys. Collaborate closely with engineering teams to ensure the accuracy and quality of UI development. Lead unmoderated usability studies, ensuring unbiased, measurable research goals and outcomes. Design with accessibility principles in mind, including annotating designs for enterprise accessibility guidelines. Collaborate with Product, Business, and Engineering partners throughout the design process. Contribute to team-level work planning and help align with Product and Engineering partners on scope, prioritization, and timelines. Communicate progress, risks, and outcomes to design leads with clarity.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in responsive Web-based UX, UI or blended UX/UI design, including 1-year leading design projects.
  • A strong portfolio of 5+ years delivering digital solutions, including examples of mobile web, desktop, native app and other digital experiences.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in designing based on enterprise and/or 3rd party design systems.
  • Advanced proficiency with Figma design, collaboration, and delivery.
  • Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design, and able to collaborate with inclusive designers to arrive at accessible solutions.
  • Ability to communicate user needs (e.g. storytelling, leveraging data) and demonstrate how proposed designs solve those needs to internal team and senior partners.
  • Knowledge of Web technologies, and awareness of how technical restraints can influence design choices.
  • Foundational characteristics include empathy, creative problem-solving, comfort with uncertainty, collaboration, iteration, communication skills, excellent technical design skills, and curiosity.
  • Excellent communication, facilitation, and collaboration skills.
