About The Position

Lead the client experience behind one of Ethan Allen’s top‑performing Design Centers. The Garden City Design Center is a flagship Ethan Allen location, supported by a highly tenured team of professional Interior Design Consultants and over 50 years of service to the community. We are seeking a Senior Design Operations Coordinator to play a pivotal leadership‑through‑influence role—supporting designers, elevating the client journey, and ensuring operational excellence in a luxury design environment. This is not a management position, but it does require leadership experience, confidence, and the ability to guide, influence, and support others in a fast‑paced, high‑performance showroom. Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in luxury retail, design support, client services, hospitality, or sales‑driven environments
  • Proven leadership experience (formal or informal)
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Professional, stylish appearance and positive, solutions‑oriented mindset
  • Ability to work a retail schedule including weekends and select holidays
  • Valid driver’s license or approved alternative transportation

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a polished, confident first point of contact for design clients
  • Educate clients on Ethan Allen’s complimentary design services and introduce them to Design Consultants through warm handoffs and scheduled appointments
  • Support designers with proposals, presentations, quotes, and order placement
  • Maintain proactive client communication regarding appointments, order status, and follow‑through
  • Act as a senior support partner to a team of 8 Interior Design Consultants
  • Lead or assist with daily business huddles and weekly training meetings
  • Serve as a resource for best practices, workflow consistency, and client escalation resolution
  • Stay current on design trends, materials, and color to support relevant design solutions
  • Generate proposals and purchase orders using the point‑of‑sale system
  • Review and monitor open order reports, workroom logs, and backorder updates
  • Coordinate service matters between the Design Center and Retail Service Center
  • Process returns, cancellations, and transaction adjustments as needed
  • Support visual merchandising standards throughout the showroom and design studios
  • Assist with inventory receiving, tagging, replenishment, and quarterly cycle counts
  • Ensure design studios and client areas reflect a luxury‑level presentation
  • Process cash transactions, deposits, end‑of‑day reporting, and blind cash balancing
  • Maintain CRM records, project logs, and reference materials
  • Assist with clerical and documentation support as needed
