About The Position

A strategic and experienced Senior Data Governance Analyst to lead and enhance enterprise-wide data governance initiatives. This role ensures alignment of data standards and drives improvements in data quality and usability across the organization. The Senior Data Governance Analyst is a key driver of the organization’s data governance strategy, ensuring that data assets are accurate, consistent, and trusted across the enterprise. This role goes beyond operational support to provide thought leadership in shaping governance frameworks, policies, and standards that enable data-driven decision-making.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in data governance, data architecture, or analytics
  • Strong proficiency in Python for data manipulation and automation
  • Deep understanding of data modeling and metadata management
  • Experience with data cataloging tools and governance platforms
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and mentor junior analysts
  • Excellent communication and strategic thinking skills

Responsibilities

  • Lead cross-functional working sessions to define enterprise-wide KPIs and metrics.
  • Resolve conflicts in metric definitions across departments.
  • Act as a liaison between business and technical teams to ensure alignment.
  • Own the structure and governance of the enterprise data catalog.
  • Decide which definitions are authoritative and manage versioning.
  • Define metadata schemas and ensure consistent application across platforms.
  • Design and document complex data relationships, including many-to-many mappings and hierarchical structures.
  • Collaborate with data architects to ensure models support analytics and reporting needs.
  • Review and approve schema changes for governed datasets.
  • Architect scalable, reusable logic for metric generation across platforms (e.g., BI tools, data lakes).
  • Optimize SQL/Python functions for performance and maintainability.
  • Ensure consistency in metric calculations across business units.
  • Develop and refine data governance policies, including data quality rules, naming conventions, and stewardship models.
  • Monitor compliance and lead remediation efforts for non-conforming data assets.
  • Mentor junior analysts on governance best practices.
  • Create executive-level dashboards and visualizations to communicate governance maturity and impact.
  • Develop training materials and lead onboarding sessions for new data stewards.
  • Present governance strategies and outcomes to leadership and stakeholders.
