About The Position

Bessemer Trust is seeking a Senior Data Governance Analyst to join the Data Governance team within CCO – Data and Tax Operations. This role is designed for an experienced data professional with a strong background in data governance, data quality, and enterprise data management. The Senior Data Governance Analyst plays a critical role in implementing and operationalizing data governance standards across the firm. This role partners closely with Operations, Technology, Legal, Compliance, and business stakeholders to ensure enterprise data is clearly defined, trusted, and fit for regulatory, operational, and analytical use.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in data, information systems, business, finance, or a related field.
  • 5–10 years of experience in data governance, data management, data quality, or related disciplines.
  • Hands-on experience administering and maintaining an enterprise data catalog, including business and technical metadata, data definitions, and governance artifacts.
  • Strong understanding of data governance and stewardship practices, including data ownership, lifecycle management, data quality controls, and awareness of emerging AI governance considerations.
  • Experience defining, designing, and implementing data quality rules by translating business rule intent into technical logic and operationalizing those rules within data integration pipelines (e.g., Informatica IDMC Data Quality and Data Integration).
  • Strong SQL skills for data analysis, rule design, and validation, with experience querying relational databases such as Oracle.
  • Experience exploring, profiling, and analyzing new and existing data across multiple systems.
  • Familiarity with BI and visualization tools, including developing dashboards (Qlik Sense) to support data quality and governance communication.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel for data analysis, validation, and review activities, and familiarity with tools such as Jira or similar platforms for tracking data issues and governance work.
  • Familiarity with AI and comfort using GPT-based tools responsibly to support analysis, documentation, and data governance work.
  • Deep understanding of data governance and data quality principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to influence stakeholders.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and initiatives.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise sound judgment.

  • Financial services experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Data Governance Lead and Data Management teams in implementing and enforcing defined data governance policies, standards, and procedures across the organization.
  • Act as a Data Governance Steward, responsible for capturing, establishing, and maintaining enterprise metadata and cataloged data assets, including ongoing updates to business, technical, and governance details.
  • Partner across Bessemer business, operational and IT teams to ensure data is well-defined, trusted, and fit for enterprise use.
  • Support the end-to-end data quality rule lifecycle, including defining business rule intent, analyzing and designing rule logic in SQL, implementing rules in IDMC Data Integration pipelines, and partnering with Rule Owners to communicate rule logic and results through dashboards and reports.
  • Demonstrate strong curiosity about data usage and meaning, proactively helping teams improve how data is understood, used, and trusted across Bessemer.
