About The Position

Join Walmart as a Senior Data Engineer and leverage your expertise in data integration, modeling, and governance to design and implement scalable data solutions. Immigration Sponsorship support will NOT be available for this position About the team: Our team develops and maintains the data and platform foundation that supports Sam’s Club’s retail media ecosystem. We integrate multiple advertising platforms, deliver standardized APIs, and enable both real-time and batch data pipelines to facilitate campaign execution, measurement, and reporting. The team focuses on building scalable, reliable data solutions that drive business insights and operational efficiency. Collaborating across functions, we ensure seamless data flow and governance while leveraging advanced data engineering skills to support strategic decision-making and innovation within the retail media space.

Requirements

  • Extensive experience in data engineering, including data integration, transformation, and pipeline development.
  • Proficiency in SQL and Scala programming languages for data manipulation and code development.
  • Strong knowledge of data modeling techniques, including dimensional design and entity relationship diagrams.
  • Understanding of data governance principles, data quality standards, and regulatory compliance.
  • Ability to analyze complex data systems and develop scalable data warehouse and big data solutions.
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms and distributed data stores such as Snowflake, Azure, and Google BigQuery.
  • Proven capability to translate business requirements into effective data strategies and technical solutions.
  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related field.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related field.
  • Option 3: Master's degree in Computer Science and 1 year’s experience in software engineering or related field.
  • 2 years' experience in data engineering, database engineering, business intelligence, or business analytics.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain scalable data pipelines and architectures to support business analytics and reporting needs.
  • Integrate multiple data sources using ETL, batch processing, and streaming ingestion techniques to ensure data accuracy and availability.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to translate business requirements into effective data models and solutions.
  • Implement data governance standards to maintain data quality, security, and compliance across platforms.
  • Optimize data storage and retrieval processes within cloud and big data environments.
  • Develop and test code using SQL, Scala, and related technologies to support data transformation and integration.
  • Provide technical guidance and documentation to support team collaboration and a strong sense of belonging.
