As a Senior Accountant with Hines, you will be working closely on firm-wide internal and external reporting, monitoring firm’s real estate investment liquidity/cash flow and fair value, and assisting in the annual audit of multiple Hines corporate entities. The role requires quantitative skill such as analysis at both the asset and ownership level, as well as qualitative skills such as fostering relationships with team members around the world. The position provides a macro view of the firm’s global real estate activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting from an accredited institution.
  • Two or more years of professional accounting experience encompassing similar duties.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Experience working with large datasets and multiple currencies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across teams.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel; comfort with or interest in working in new programs, including applications like Power BI, Spreadsheet Server, and JD Edwards accounting software.
  • Excellent time management skills to meet daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work indoors approximately 100% of the time.
  • Work overtime as business needs deem appropriate.
  • Ability to lift files and records (approximately 10 lbs.).

Nice To Haves

  • CPA designation (or intention to work toward CPA designation) is preferred.
  • Public accounting or real estate experience is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain effective communication with market, fund, internal teams to obtain timely and accurate real estate liquidity, cash flow and valuation data. Familiarity with the details of each project and ownership structure is essential to proper reporting.
  • Review and analyze real estate liquidity and cash flow activity for corporate financial statements and internal reporting, contributing to monthly and semi-annual presentation prepared for Hines owners and senior management.
  • Evaluate quarterly valuation details and changes, assess underlying project information, and ensure reported values and their impacts on corporate entities are reasonable and supported.
  • Perform general ledger review and analysis related to real estate activities to ensure accuracy, proper classification and compliance with GAAP.
  • Maintain and validate asset metadata and investment underwriting information within the Hines data warehouse to ensure data integrity.
  • Review and track financial and performance guaranties associated with Hines corporate entities.
  • Process draws, capital calls, deposits and acquisition fundings to support real estate investment and development activity, and coordinate and track operating and sales distributions.
  • Produce ad hoc reports and analysis to support other groups within Corporate Finance and other departments; assist with special projects or external requests as needed.
  • Assist in year-end audit and internal tax request by preparing and providing support schedules and documents.
