About The Position

Royal Canin is seeking Senior Controls Technician to join our exciting pet food business at a North Sioux City manufacturing plant. We focus on the unique needs of cats and dogs. The Senior Controls Technician is a functional expert in a specific technology or area of the factory. Their work is 100% planned and scheduled but they are used as technical experts as a point of escalation for breakdowns. Their work should consist of a combination of preventative and improvement work all planned & scheduled through the site CMMS system. A Senior Controls Technician's additional responsibility for coaching of peers & operations team members to improve their technical capability as well as leading peers, operators and contractors through maintenance events. Senior Controls Technician's also ensure safe and effective execution of planned and scheduled maintenance on equipment, systems, production lines and technical infrastructure of the factory so that the factory minimizes unplanned TRS losses.

Requirements

  • Technical qualification required for appropriate discipline
  • Significant experience as a technician
  • Advanced skills in a complex production equipment maintenance
  • Drawings, electrical diagrams, schematic reading
  • Advanced skills of written communication
  • Knowledge of the MS Office software, CMMS systems & Electronic drawing software

Responsibilities

  • Manage their own safety and the safety of others through the implementation of maintenance tasks and ensuring all safety & legal training is proactively completed.
  • Follow the Mars standards with regards to quality and food safety while executing work.
  • Inform their manager of any safety or quality and food safety incidents or deviations in a timely manner.
  • Organize, execute and lead all maintenance activities and planned work tasks within assigned area in order to achieve reliable operating and safe production.
  • Maintenance work is to be delivered right first time to drive the maintenance department KPIs.
  • All maintenance work completed is reported in the appropriate CMMS system.
  • Report any equipment deviations not resolved through the correct process to ensure the follow up is captured.
  • Implement reliability improvement activities either personally identified or in partnership with the Reliability Engineer or Technical Lead.
  • Make recommendations and work with the Reliability Engineer on how the asset maintenance strategy can be improved to improve asset reliability and prevent breakdowns.
  • Ensure all maintenance documentation is effectively kept up to date including drawings, BOMs, spare parts & technical manuals.
  • Ensure all legal compliance documentation is updated and maintained as required.
  • Act as a point of technical escalation as a functional expert when escalated to through the appropriate process from shift teams.
  • Participate and lead BDAs as a point of escalation from the shift tech teams as a functional expert.
  • Lead teams of peers and external contractors during maintenance activities.
  • Coach operations teams on how to complete basic first level maintenance and AM tasks.
  • Coach peers on how to perform maintenance activities
  • Provide input to Engineering projects on design reviews, spares, training, planned maintenance schedules as assigned by Reliability Engineers.
