About The Position

The Senior Controller is an executive team member that is both strategic and hands-on. This person is responsible for ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and scalability of the company’s financial operations. This role oversees core accounting functions, implements strong financial controls, partners with senior leadership on budgeting and forecasting, and helps modernize systems and processes to support a growing organization. The Senior Controller ensures compliance, drives operational efficiency, and translates financial insights into clear guidance for decision-makers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required; CPA preferred.
  • 8+ years of progressive accounting/finance experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, job-costing environments, and audit/tax compliance.
  • Proven success improving financial systems, implementing new tools, or upgrading ERP platforms.
  • Advanced Excel skills; experience with reporting tools and automated workflows.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Strong attention to detail paired with the ability to think strategically and anticipate future needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in construction, manufacturing, or job-costing industries highly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all accounting operations, including general ledger, AP/AR, payroll, job costing, revenue recognition, and month-end/year-end close.
  • Produce accurate and timely financial statements, management reports, and variance analyses.
  • Maintain and strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and compliance procedures.
  • Partner with leadership to build annual budgets, rolling forecasts, and multi-year financial models.
  • Track performance against budget and provide clear, actionable insights to executives.
  • Assess current accounting systems and processes; identify opportunities to streamline, automate, and reduce manual work.
  • Strengthen job-costing accuracy and ensure alignment between Finance, Production, and Sales.
  • Build scalable processes that support growth from current state through future expansion.
  • Manage and develop accounting team members, fostering growth, accuracy, and accountability.
  • Translate complex financial concepts into clear, accessible guidance for non-finance leaders.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, tax regulations, labor laws, and internal policies.
  • Establish and monitor internal controls to mitigate financial and operational risk.
