About The Position

The Senior Contracts Manager will be a member of a team of attorneys and other risk management professionals and will primarily support contracting efforts within the Legal/Contracts and Risk Management Departments. The position is in Bigge's Houston, Texas office. This is a full-time in office position.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Law, or related field.
  • 8-12 years of contract management experience in construction, industrial, engineering, or heavy equipment sectors, including drafting, redlining, negotiating and resolving contract disputes. A thorough understanding of contracts, indemnification, and insurance is mandatory
  • High level of interpersonal and problem-solving skills, poise, and perseverance with the ability to interact and communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with and persuade customers and other stakeholders by email, telephone, and video conferencing. Must excel at contract draftsmanship.
  • Proficiency with MS Office products, including Word, Excel, and Outlook, and with Adobe Acrobat is required. Experience with DocuSign and Salesforce is a plus.
  • High attention to detail in composing, drafting, and proofing materials, analyzing contract language and expertly explaining critical contract and risk concepts, establishing priorities, and meeting deadlines. Must be able to work in a fast-paced environment and juggle multiple competing tasks and demands.
  • Ability to work independently after initial training.

  • Licensed attorney preferred.
  • Construction/Oil & Gas background a plus.
  • Experience with DocuSign and Salesforce is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Support Houston's Contracts, Legal, Risk Management, Operations and HR teams.
  • Develop contract review, management and decision-making processes and systems to optimize efficiencies.
  • Draft, evaluate, negotiate, and execute a wide variety of contracts covering a range of transactions.
  • Review, redline, and negotiate terms, resolve disputes and sign (in accordance with documented authorization guidelines) customer construction contracts, equipment rental agreements, equipment sales documents, consulting agreements, and other documents germane to the Company's operations.
  • Own the contracting process from initial fact-checking (confirmation of scope, schedule, insurance requirements and price with sales and payment status with accounting) to final document execution, including performing all related “administrative” tasks, such as:
  • Identifying and notifying other departments of special requirements, such as special billing requirements or online billing programs, certified payroll reporting, local hiring, and controlled insurance programs.
  • Enrolling in controlled insurance programs.
  • Ordering or pulling insurance certificates from the insurance company's online database.
  • Reviewing and uploading customer insurance certificates into a database.
  • Coordinate with internal and external resources in claims and risk management, dispute resolution, litigation, and collection/bankruptcy matters.
  • Interface with and cross-train team members in other departments.
  • Supervise and train contracts administrators.
