About The Position

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Contract Administrator to join its organization. The hybrid position based at BAE Systems Combat Mission Systems (CMS) in Phoenix, AZ will support execution of the contract management role & responsibilities across the business portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and 4+ years relevant experience OR equivalent education/experience
  • Highly developed critical thinking and communication skills with ability to influence and shape favorable business outcomes.
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and team-building with the ability to perform in a complex cross-functional business environment.
  • Excellent writing skills is a must, with the ability to write clear and concise reports, business correspondence, and policies/procedures.
  • Ability to effect and manage change (both organizational and contractual).
  • Fixed Price Contract experience
  • Functional knowledge of FAR/DFARS regulations
  • Experience with complex contracts and proposal preparation and execution
  • Ability to interact professionally and effectively at all levels of the organization
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, solicitations/RFPs, or governmental regulations.
  • Strong business acumen and experienced in risk management.

Responsibilities

  • Support Contracts personnel within a Business Area(s). The position may require leading complex contracting assignments or specializing in one or more areas of contracting.
  • Develop and maintain professional and dependable relationships with both internal and external customers.
  • Act as a lead in bid/proposal efforts, and the negotiation and management of contracts to assure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge and working understanding of the U.S. Government Acquisition and Procurement environment, BAE Systems and functional Contracts Department policies and procedures, commercial and international contracting methods, export, FAR/DFARS and other government regulations.
  • Provides analysis of solicitations, assure that bid/proposals are prepared and presented in a manner so as to afford the Company the greatest opportunity to obtain the contract award while minimizing associated liabilities and risk.
  • Establishes and manages negotiation strategies and financial requirements, perform business risk assessment and recommend mitigation plans, conduct negotiation of contracts requiring a high degree of negotiation expertise, execute proposals and contracts to the threshold delegated.
  • Prepares contract summaries, and provide management with complete, current and accurate data by reporting progress on contract activity, together with recommendations for management action/decision.
  • Fosters and maintains sound and reliable relationships with counterparts in customer organizations.
  • Demonstrates specialized knowledge in an area of contracting such as, but not limited to international contracting, certain contracts types, commercial contracting, strategic alliances and intellectual property.
  • Works with Program personnel and other Company functions as required on tasks which routinely impact quality, timeliness of results, planning and revenues or budget.
  • Interfaces regularly providing advice and counsel on contractual and business matters to senior management at the assigned Business Area.
  • Frequently has outside contact with Customers at higher levels or with persons of influence. Must be a skilled communicator who influences and shapes the image of a complex Business arrangement.
