A day in the life: The Senior Consultant at Marsh McLennan Agency plays a critical role in delivering expert insight and comprehensive knowledge of health and welfare benefit plans. This individual will build strong relationships with clients and colleagues, leveraging deep industry experience to thoroughly understand client benefit programs, identify coverage gaps, and confidently recommend tailored solutions that support clients’ long-term strategies. Proficiency in the agency management system is essential to maintain accurate client records. Key responsibilities include leading client meetings, renewal strategies, and annual planning in collaboration with internal teams; evaluating and recommending benefit options across medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefits; analyzing claims and benchmark data to identify cost drivers; guiding clients through legislative and compliance requirements; partnering with carriers and vendors to negotiate renewals; mentoring team members; and contributing to business development through proposal and presentation support.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Masters preferred
  • 7+ years in insurance industry experience with a thorough understanding of all benefit plans (medical, dental, life, STD, LTD, etc) design, rate structures, funding alternatives and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with advanced writing skills.
  • Proficient in all areas of Health & Welfare compliance (i.e. HIPAA, FMLA, COBRA, 5500, DOL, etc).
  • Life Accident & Health Licensure
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office suite programs
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with all levels of internal staff & management, external clients, prospects and vendors.

Nice To Haves

  • CEBS Certification or other industry recognized designations preferred.
