Construction Department The Construction team is responsible for the entire process flow of delivering the physical data centers from shovel ready state through commissioning, working with Sales, Operations, and management along the way. Construction implements and executes upon the work product developed by the Development & Engineering (D&E) team. The team also manages Vantage’s build partners to success through technical feedback and review, and actively participating in review of schedule and budget. Many times, a role like this at other companies is purely oversight. One thing that distinguishes Vantage is that our construction teams are given the responsibility and authority to directly drive the process. When compared to external resources, our internal team can ensure the key stakeholders are engaged in the decision-making process to align long-term operational sustainability with value engineering and cost metrics to deliver products aligned with corporate goals. This approach empowers each member of the team to drive high- impact decisions and even more impactful results. Position Description This role is based on-site in Columbus, OH. Some travel could required depending on business needs (see Job Requirements). Vantage is looking for a Senior Construction Manager to lead and drive success on new and ongoing, medium-to-large-sized construction capital projects! The position covers all aspects of a construction project. Areas of expertise require autonomy and independent discretion in the following areas: RFP development and overall project budgeting Pre-bid planning, oversight and coordination Lead multiple projects/deliverables Leading all design phases and documents working internally with stakeholder groups and SME’s Customer engagement for sales and fulfillment of project requirements Coordination and supervision of design-build, and design bid build contractors Oversight of physical construction activities on site Coordination and logistical planning for all OFCI equipment Leading commissioning of critical systems integration across new and existing data centers Hand-off of physical data center and project documents to operations Management in prime contractor safety performance

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Construction Management, similar field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in leading construction projects of increasing complexity required, 7-10 years preferred
  • Experience in CSA (civil, structural, architectural) and MEP (mechanical, electrical, plumbing) construction management is a requirement
  • Expected travel is 10% but may grow and evolve over time

Nice To Haves

  • Data Center experience is a plus
  • Multi-prime or alternate procurement delivery experience is preferred
  • Procore, Cx Alloy, and P6 experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Management of project scope, safety, schedule, stakeholder, and budget
  • Drive all aspects of construction including pre-construction, design development, permitting and entitlements, competitive bid process, team selection, construction oversight, commissioning, and project closeout
  • Cultivate ability to build business cases and bring projects from concept through internal project approval
  • Implement project quality controls and safety programs through an in-depth understanding of the partner contracts and design documents
  • Lead the Vantage site safety program and provide weekly HRA site walk reports. Two (2) HRA site walks are required per week to provide accurate safety metrics to the Vantage EH&S department
  • Translate job requirements to execution with minimal supervision
  • Be a leader and mentor to Vantage employees
  • Collaborate with design team, contractors, operations teams and clients
  • Submit monthly project financial reporting including forecasting, cash-flow, etc.
  • Review monthly contractor billing and perform job walks to substantiate progress
  • Develop, lead, maintain, and assist with contract negotiation of new and existing vendors
  • Lead input and delivery of work products from internal team members to ensure that new data center spaces align with the project requirements, customer requirements, all engineering standards, applicable codes, and specifications
  • Develop, document, and drive lessons learned, process improvements, cost, and schedule savings initiatives throughout the project lifecycle process
  • Work closely with the Operations to coordinate design criteria with budgetary issues and ongoing maintenance and operation of existing facilities
  • Perform and or supervise weekly safety walks to ensure contractors are following Vantage EHS policies
  • Awareness of the importance of mission-critical facility operation
  • Additional duties as assigned from time to time by Management
