DEC Department The Design, Engineering & Construction (DEC) team manages the full lifecycle of data center delivery—from initial concept through commissioning—while working closely with Sales, Operations, and internal leadership. DEC partners with contractors through a vertically integrated design model and maintains direct responsibility for technical alignment, schedule oversight, and budget performance. Unlike traditional oversight roles, Vantage empowers technical staff with both ownership and authority, enabling impactful decision-making that aligns long-term operational sustainability with cost and value optimization. Position Overview This role will be based in Shackelford County, TX. The Construction Project Engineer Intern will support key coordination activities across a major data center campus project. The internship provides the opportunity to work closely with Construction Delivery Teams and exposure to multiple project phases, including safety, design development, engineering, scoping, cost controls, OFCI/CFCI, contracting, construction sequencing, preconstruction, scheduling, sitework, CSA, MEP systems, fit-out/white space, automation, construction and operational security, commissioning, closeout, and more.

Requirements

  • Education: Currently enrolled in a 4-year university pursuing a degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or similar field.
  • Experience: Rising Junior or Senior status.
  • Minimum GPA requirement – 3.0.
  • Skills: Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Positive and proactive attitude.
  • Customer-focused with a passion for enhancing employee experience.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Travel: Expected travel up to 5%, with potential to increase as the business evolves.

Responsibilities

  • Project Support: Assist the Construction Delivery Teams in executing of project specifications and managing all project delivery.
  • Collaborate with Operations to coordinate work with MOP log and track required approvals.
  • Prioritize and organize stakeholder input to timely support project milestones/deliverables.
  • Ensure effective communication and coordination across all stakeholders.
  • Vendor and Contract Management: Support the management of owner-vendor contracts, ensuring alignment of project deliverables and requirements.
  • Field Execution and Coordination: Participate in safety walks and support implementation of mitigation procedures.
  • Translate job requirements into executable field activities with minimal supervision is required.
  • Perform job walks with stakeholders & contractors as needed.
  • Facilitate page-turn reviews and capture comments with action items for the internal team.
  • Documentation and Compliance: Manage the submittal and RFI processes to ensure up-to-date and accurate project documentation.
  • Support design development reviews and document processes.
  • Ensure project compliance with Vantage document controls standards and file specifications.
  • Transcribe meeting minutes and track action, driving each item to closure.
  • Project Closeout: Assist in administering project closeout requirements and ensure all documentation satisfies compliance with specifications.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.
