About The Position

The Social Impact Program Manager is an ambassador of Golden 1’s mission and vision in the communities we serve, and advocates for the needs of those communities within the Credit Union. The Social Impact Program Manager is a strategic, goal-oriented trailblazer who drives positive results for Golden 1 through leading the development and execution of the Credit Union’s social impact initiatives, including the Golden 1 Foundation, charitable giving efforts, disaster relief, and community investments. In addition, this individual partners closely with HR to develop and implement strategies and tactics for DEI, employee volunteering, and employee donations. The position requires constant evaluation of programs, identifying insights and applying learnings to recommend improvements through ongoing, constructive dialogue with senior leadership and colleagues within the Communications & Community Relations Department and business lines. The Social Impact Program Manager will ensure optimal positive impact of Golden 1’s philanthropic activities while building relationships with internal partners and external community stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations, business or a related field required.
  • Minimum seven years of experience in corporate social responsibility with emphasis on developing and managing charitable giving or social impact programs. Experience building partnerships and relationships with community-based organizations. Experience in employee volunteerism practices and programming.
  • Strategic planning acumen with enterprise mindset required.
  • Knowledge of corporate philanthropy and corporate responsibility practices and trends.
  • Strong work ethic with a passion to advocate and serve underrepresented and marginalized communities.
  • Detail-oriented, with strong project management and organizational skills.
  • Strong writing skills.
  • Self-starter attitude and can work independently and as part of a larger team.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must reside within the territory and market region they support.
  • Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required.
  • Corrected vision within the normal range.
  • Hearing within normal range.
  • Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
  • Work hours will include some evenings and weekends as needed to attend community events.

Responsibilities

  • Develop Golden 1’s social impact strategies with Marketing, Communications and Community Relations leadership, ensuring said strategies support Golden 1 Credit Union’s Vision and community outreach pillars.
  • Oversee charitable giving strategy development including recommendations for support and identifying opportunities that maximize ROI and elevate Golden 1’s presence in the charitable community and communities-at-large.
  • Manage investments in large-scale and targeted social impact areas including a lead role in third-party vendor and nonprofit relationships, program evaluation, and reporting.
  • Build and sustain relationships with nonprofit organizations, community leaders, and business partners in the communities we serve.
  • In partnership with the Vice President, Communications and Community Relations, lead the Golden 1 Credit Union Foundation including fundraising, policy development and compliance, annual reporting, communications, giving recommendations, and strategic planning.
  • Develop recommendations and strategies for disaster relief, including cash donations to nonprofit organizations and employee volunteer opportunities. Manage ongoing relationships with disaster relief organizations, telethons, and in-person volunteering to help communities recover from disasters.
  • In partnership with HR, develop and manage Golden 1’s Employee Volunteer and Giving Programs including tracking and reporting responsibilities.
  • In partnership with HR, develop DEI strategies to recognize socially significant holidays and dates.
  • Partner with public relations, internal communications, and marketing to develop communication strategies and resources that convey the impact of Golden 1’s social impact initiatives and corporate giving programs to internal and external audiences.
  • Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to credit union compliance including bank secrecy and anti-money laundering laws appropriate to the position.
