About The Position

The Senior Communications Specialist is an expert in communications, media relations, social media, digital, news, and/or staff engagement communications activities. This role involves taking an active leadership role across Mayo Clinic to understand business objectives and build supporting communications strategies and plans. The specialist will provide strategic communications consultation and guidance to various clients, and will be responsible for planning, driving, implementing, monitoring, and measuring the results of communications plans to advance Mayo Clinic’s mission, strategic plan, and business objectives. The position requires developing and executing functional and cross-functional plans, managing complex projects through their entire lifecycle, and proactively building positive relationships with colleagues, leaders, and experts. The Senior Specialist will serve as a role model, represent Mayo Clinic internally and externally, and demonstrate an understanding of audience dynamics to tailor communication delivery. They are expected to convey confidence, clarity, and transparency with stakeholders and leaders, contribute to business planning and strategy development, and drive strategies and tactics to execution, including leading teams and providing leadership to contractors and third parties.

Responsibilities

Understand business objectives and build communications strategies and plans to support those objectives.
Provide strategic communications consultation and guidance to various clients.
Plan, drive, implement, monitor and measure results of communications plans to advance Mayo Clinic’s mission, strategic plan and business objectives.
Develops and executes functional and cross-functional plans to advance Mayo Clinic’s strategic plan.
Manages complex and cross-functional projects through entire project life cycle to achieve objectives and measure results.
Proactively seeks opportunities to build and improve positive relationships with colleagues, leaders, and experts.
Serves as a role model for others and represents Mayo Clinic internally and externally.
