Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism, English, or a related field from an accredited four‑year college or university.
  • Twelve or more years of professional experience in public relations, communications, public outreach, or related disciplines.
  • Experience supporting high-profile, high-visibility clients with strong engagement and evolving priorities.
  • Strong understanding of public relations principles, event planning, and media relations strategies.
  • Proven ability to write, edit, and oversee the development of promotional and informational materials.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with clients, media representatives, employees, managers, citizens, and appointed or elected officials.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to deliver persuasive and engaging public presentations.
  • Ability to actively listen and respond appropriately to stakeholders on a wide range of issues.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team in a fast‑paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrated computer proficiency and comfort with standard office software and digital communication tools.

  • Prior agency and event planning/coordination experience highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integrated communications strategies that support organization and client goals and key initiatives.
  • Translate strategy into actionable plans, timelines, and deliverables, prioritizing work, coordinating inputs, managing approvals, and ensuring quality.
  • Craft clear and compelling messaging, talking points, and other documents that articulate project objectives; skilled at turning technical material into clear, accessible communications for non-technical audiences.
  • Identify proactive storytelling opportunities and develop and manage calendars for campaigns, announcements, social media and digital content.
  • Coordinate production of photos graphics, video, and other multimedia assets with both internal and external teams.
  • Ensure brand and message consistency across all communications.
  • Create high-quality written content including press releases, media advisories, web copy, social media content, newsletters, digital campaigns, etc.
  • Develop executive-ready materials including key messages, talking points, briefings, FAQs, presentations, press materials, etc.
  • Manage high-priority, time-sensitive content requiring rapid turnaround and polish.
  • Plan, produce, and execute for a variety of events including conferences, VIP tours, media events, and showcases.
  • Prepare and distribute regular reports summarizing communications activities and progress.
  • Supervise and mentor support staff and junior professionals as assigned, fostering growth and development.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor to support project and organizational needs.
