About The Position

This position follows a hybrid schedule with a minimum of two in-office days per week at Tampa General Hospital. As a Healthcare Representative, the role involves interviewing and advocating for patients and their families to secure maximum benefit coverage in a hospital or healthcare setting. This is a full-time position (40 hours/week), Monday through Friday, with required flexibility to work any 8-hour shift between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm. Occasional overtime may be necessary. On-the-job training will be provided during normal business hours, Monday through Friday. Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must be 18 years of age OR older
  • 1+ years of customer service experience within a hospital or healthcare environment
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products
  • Experience communicating with patients/client and/or staff
  • Ability to travel up to 10% based on business needs
  • Ability to work onsite a minimum of two days per week at Tampa General Hospital (1 Tampa General Circle, Tampa, FL 33606). Remaining days may be worked remotely and may fluctuate based on business needs.
  • Ability to work full time (40 hours / week) Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime & weekends.
  • Reside within commutable distance to the office at Tampa General Hospital (1 Tampa General Circle, Tampa, FL 33606)
  • Ability to keep all company sensitive documents secure (if applicable)
  • Required to have a dedicated work area established that is separated from other living areas and provides information privacy.
  • Must live in a location that can receive a UnitedHealth Group approved high-speed internet connection or leverage an existing high-speed internet service.

Responsibilities

  • Interview patients in a hospital setting and work effectively with hospital personnel to assist patients with obtaining maximum benefit coverage
  • Perform high volume administrative duties including typing, data entry, and completing healthcare forms
  • Complete applications for state and federal programs
  • Review medical records and take all necessary actions to expedite benefit approval
  • Adhere to company and legal standards regarding Protected Health Information (PHI), Personal Identifiable Information (PII) and Personnel Transaction Identifier (PTI)
  • Maintain ongoing communication with government agencies regarding the status of claims
  • Provide updates and assistance to hospital personnel and other Optum staff as needed
  • Maintain documentation of status of claims and client contract on Optum and/or hospital computer systems
  • Determine when to use a Federal, State or Local program application based upon medical definition of disability as it relates to body systems and to functions of daily living, and information contained in medical records.
  • Willing to work in a fast-paced hospital or healthcare environment
  • Additional reporting and duties provided by management.
