About The Position

This position is for a Senior Clerk within the Dental Program of the Clinical Health Services Division at the Pinellas Park Health Department in Pinellas County, Florida. The role involves verifying client eligibility, managing appointments and client demographics using systems like EOHR (HMS, Eaglesoft), performing billing, organizing and maintaining confidential dental records, and scanning documents. The Senior Clerk will also operate office equipment, travel to various clinics and school sites as requested, assist with clerical work planning and training, and provide backup to other Dental Program members. The role requires maintaining good working relationships with staff and supervisors, scheduling time off in advance, and completing mandatory professional growth training. In the event of a disaster, the incumbent is expected to report for duty.

Requirements

  • Ability to prioritize, plan, organize and coordinate assigned work.
  • Knowledge in using a personal computer such as word processing software, database, spreadsheet and electronic mail.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner including answering a multi-line telephone system.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally, and in writing.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • 1-3 years of knowledge in using a personal computer such as word processing software, database, spreadsheet and electronic mail.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish highly desired.
  • Dental front office experience highly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Verifies client eligibility requirements.
  • Answers phones, return calls, check voicemail, make appointments, or enter client demographics in EOHR. (HMS, Eaglesoft)
  • Performs billing in accordance with established procedures
  • Organizes and maintains dental records and a confidential filing system.
  • Enters client data into HMS and Eagle Soft, scans documents as requested.
  • Organizes and complete projects as assigned
  • Maintain patient’s records.
  • Complies with security procedure guidelines.
  • Confirm appointments and scan client records daily.
  • Demonstrates team support to dental staff
  • Operates photocopy and fax machines, computers, terminals, scanners and printers accurately
  • Travel to all clinics and school sites as requested
  • Assists in planning, training, filing and review of clerical work.
  • Establish and maintain good working relationship with staff and supervisor.
  • Schedule time off in advance and collaborates with supervisor to ensure work responsibilities are covered when absent.
  • Provide back up to other members of the Dental Program when needed.
  • Front desk file purging as requested
  • Attends local meetings as requested
  • In the event of a disaster, report for duty prior to, during or after the disaster as needed.
  • Complete mandatory training to promote professional growth in a timely manner.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor
  • Submit EARS and timesheets in a correct and timely manner.
