About The Position

Metis Technology Solutions is seeking an experienced Senior Capture Manager to lead strategic capture efforts focused on high-value opportunities with U.S. Space Force, Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Department of Defense (DoD), NASA, and related federal agencies in the aerospace, aviation, and space systems domains. This senior leadership role will drive the identification, qualification, shaping, and successful pursuit of major contracts and IDIQs in aerospace engineering, software/systems development, AI/ML for safety-critical applications, cybersecurity, digital engineering, and autonomy/navigation technologies. Reporting directly to the CGO, the Senior Capture Manager will play a pivotal role in accelerating company growth and expanding our portfolio of cutting-edge government programs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required (Master's or advanced degree preferred) in Engineering, Business, Science, or related field
  • Minimum of 8-years of progressive experience in federal government contracting/business development, with experience directly leading capture efforts for major NASA, DoD, Space Force, or Intelligence Community opportunities
  • Proven track record of successfully capturing and winning competitive federal contracts (>$10M+), preferably in aerospace, space systems, aviation safety, modeling & simulation, or related technical services
  • Strong understanding of the federal acquisition process, including FAR, NASA FAR Supplement, and common procurement vehicles (IDIQ, OTA, cost-plus, firm-fixed-price)
  • Demonstrated experience in opportunity shaping, customer relationship management, competitor analysis, and price-to-win development
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with experience preparing executive-level briefings, white papers, and solution documents
  • Willingness to travel (up to 20%) for customer meetings, industry events, and site visits
  • Active security clearance (Secret or higher)

  • Prior work on U.S. Space Force, MDA, or FAA contracts
  • Eligibility to obtain a Secret or higher security clearance
  • Familiarity with Shipley BD processes or equivalent capture management frameworks
  • Previous work experience in a military or civilian position
  • Existing relationships within the DoD and NASA ecosystem

Responsibilities

  • Lead full lifecycle capture management for strategic opportunities (typically $20M–$250M+ total contract value), including NASA procurements, Space Force initiatives, MDA IDIQs, and other federal aviation/space-related solicitations
  • Develop and execute comprehensive capture plans, including win strategies, competitive assessments, price-to-win analysis, teaming strategies, and customer shaping activities
  • Conduct opportunity qualification using established gated review processes (e.g., Shipley-inspired BD processes)
  • Build and maintain strong customer relationships with key decision-makers and influencers at NASA centers (e.g., Ames, JPL, Johnson), U.S. Space Force, MDA, FAA, and DoD organizations
  • Identify, qualify, and pursue new business opportunities through RFIs, Sources Sought, industry days, and early customer engagement
  • Lead solution development, including technical approach, staffing plans, and risk mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate with proposal teams to transition seamless from capture to proposal phase
  • Track and report probability of win (PWin) metrics
  • Mentor junior BD/capture staff and contribute to overall business development process improvement
