About The Position

The Sr. Buyer leads day-to-day procurement for the New Castle and Wilmington sites, ensuring timely fulfillment of high-volume, mission-critical purchases that support operational, laboratory, and manufacturing needs. This role oversees and mentors purchasing staff as applicable, manages supplier relationships, and drives sourcing and contracting activities to ensure uninterrupted supply at optimal total cost. Responsibilities include domestic and international sourcing of chemicals, laboratory reagents, equipment, and services to support research, manufacturing, and laboratory operations, while driving supplier performance, reliability, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3–6 years of procurement or supply chain experience.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
  • Financial and analytical acumen.
  • Exceptional communication and leadership skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Exhibit the capacity to perform efficiently in a demanding environment while engaging with multiple stakeholders.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and other Microsoft Office 365 applications.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with SAP Business One is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve procurement goals within assigned categories.
  • Supervise local procurement personnel
  • Identify, monitor and manage the Supplier Sourcing and Management system
  • Negotiate pricing and contract terms with suppliers.
  • Consolidate major purchases to leverage volume and improve pricing outcomes.
  • Resolve disputed purchases fairly and efficiently to protect the organization while maintaining supplier relationships
  • Develop and manage budgets for procurement activities.
  • Lead or support procurement-related projects.
  • Ensure compliance with procurement policies and regulations.
  • Manage and communicate procurement Standard Operating Procedures in accordance with the Adesis Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Work in close coordination with the Procurement Department at corporate headquarters to ensure that all procurement processes are optimized and consistently adhere to established global standards.
