Requirements

  • Associate's degree or minimum of 4 years of experience in procurement of castings, finished machined parts, and other industrial commodities
  • Strong project management, time management, and multitasking skills with the ability to prioritize and meet targets
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present information and interact effectively with managers, customers, and stakeholders
  • Strong negotiation, interpersonal, and influencing skills with a customer-focused mindset
  • Proven problem-solving and reasoning abilities with strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to analyze and interpret business publications, technical procedures, and governmental regulations
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedural documentation
  • Strong mathematical skills, including percentages and working knowledge of basic algebra and geometry
  • Ability to interpret instructions in written, oral, diagram, or schedule formats
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word; experience with records management
  • Willingness to travel up to 20%
  • Ability to work in a moderate-noise environment

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of buyers or purchasing agents to procure materials, equipment, and services at optimal value while meeting quality, cost, and delivery requirements
  • Serve as the primary liaison between suppliers, internal departments, and management; communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Utilize MRP systems and exception reports to plan purchases, control inventory, and support production schedules
  • Develop and execute sourcing strategies to reduce total cost of ownership through negotiation, supplier consolidation, and strategic sourcing initiatives
  • Prepare and manage RFQs and purchase orders; maintain accurate procurement and supplier performance records
  • Conduct supplier visits and manage supplier relationships to resolve quality, delivery, design, or production issues
  • Identify, mitigate, and manage supply chain risks, including development and execution of contingency plans
  • Oversee inventory optimization activities, including setting and monitoring min/max levels, safety stock, and addressing obsolete or slow-moving inventory
  • Support new product development initiatives by assigning and monitoring procurement activities to meet cost and launch targets
  • Resolve supplier disputes, escalate performance issues as needed, and troubleshoot delays to ensure uninterrupted supply
  • Review and approve invoices, expedite deliveries, and prepare reports on procurement metrics, cost savings, and supplier performance
  • Perform other duties as assigned
