About The Position

We are looking for a strategic, analytical leader to shape the future of Microsoft’s commercial contracting. As a Senior Business Planner, you will define the contract architecture and capabilities that support Microsoft’s evolving portfolio, enabling new business models, modernized customer experiences, and scalable monetization. In this role, you will partner across Engineering, Finance, Sales, Legal, and Product teams to design contracting frameworks, build business cases, and guide the adoption of new commercial systems. You’ll evaluate market dynamics, customer behaviors, and financial insights to inform strategy and influence executive decision making. This is a high visibility opportunity for someone with a background in product management, pricing, contracting, consulting, or portfolio strategy who can translate structured thinking into scaled impact.

Requirements

  • 5+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience OR equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • 8+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Bachelor's Degree in Engineering/Computer Science, Economics, Business, or related field OR 6+ years product management, strategy consulting, finance, business/corporate development, or related experience AND Master's Degree in Business Administration (MBA), or related field OR equivalent experience.
  • Experience in portfolio management, pricing and monetization (tiered portfolios, benefit fences, discount guardrails).
  • Experience launching products and services at a technology company and managing the lifecycle of commercial offers.
  • Experience with defining enterprise commercial system requirements.
  • Proficiency in data modeling tools and experimentation/insight methods (e.g., conjoint/WTP).

Responsibilities

  • Design Microsoft’s commercial contracting framework, including the contract architecture (“contract stack”) that balances flexibility, scalability, and support for current and future offerings.
  • Lead cross company strategic initiatives that align contracting modernization with product, sales, legal, finance, and engineering priorities; ensure strategies are welldefinedwell-defined, documented, and sequenced across teams.
  • Develop and operationalize contracting models for new business scenarios across customers, partners, and the broader ecosystem, enabling adoption of emerging offers and commercial capabilities.
  • Use data driven insights to evaluate performance, including impacts on sales cycles, customer experience, and revenue; translate findings into strategic recommendations.
  • Drive analytical decision-making by sizing opportunities, designing experiments, defining success metrics, and optimizing the contract portfolio.
  • Orchestrate crossfunctional virtual teams to launch and scale new contracting frameworks, ensuring alignment across Engineering, Legal, Finance, Marketing, and Sales.
  • Create executive ready narratives that frame strategic choices, articulate tradeoffs, and influence direction at the senior leadership level.
