About The Position

Vanguard’s Global Brand team is responsible for defining and telling Vanguard’s story in ways that set them apart and inspire action. The Senior Brand Strategist will join the Brand Strategy & Insights team, leading strategic planning and messaging for enterprise-wide brand marketing campaigns and high-impact initiatives. This role also involves contributing heavily to the knowledge and insights platforms created within the Brand Strategy & Insights team. The ideal candidate will contribute to a culture of creative excellence and effectiveness through a deeper understanding of target audiences, cohesive analysis of the competitive landscape, and a passion for bringing new ideas to life across all lines of business. This person will be integral to strengthening and evolving Vanguard’s brand in the industry through consistent objectives, focused messaging, and inspirational creative briefs.

Requirements

  • A strong strategic point of view in owning work with significant visibility and complexity.
  • Exceptional storytelling, writing, and presentation skills with an ability to influence and inspire across levels.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams
  • Approximately 8 years related work experience.
  • Undergraduate degree in marketing, communications or equivalent experience.
  • Proven experience leading brand and marketing strategy for complex businesses or categories
  • Proven experience developing foundational brand elements (e.g., positioning, architecture, messaging, communications frameworks, creative campaigns, partnerships)
  • Proven experience in effective stakeholder management (internal partners and external vendors)

Responsibilities

  • Lead brand and marketing strategy for priority initiatives, owning problem definition through execution of a creative brief, ensuring work delivers against brand and business objectives.
  • Partner with integrated marketing teams including Global Brand Creative team, for internal and external initiatives.
  • Bring clarity to ambiguous challenges, leading creative teams with strong points of view on how to build breakthrough marketing to many target audiences.
  • Contribute to a growing body of knowledge about audiences and category, regularly creating presentations with key insights and actionable implications, and partner with other members of the Brand Strategy team in scaling that knowledge through events and programs.
  • Serve as a strategic partner to external agency teams, helping sharpen the quality of strategic thinking, consumer insight, and creative effectiveness of work.
