About the position
Nacelle is seeking a talented and experienced Backend Engineer to join their team. The role involves developing and enhancing the server-side logic of their platform, creating performance-oriented products, and ensuring smooth backend systems operation. Strong experience with data flow and transformations, proficiency in Node.js, and familiarity with distributed systems and microservices are required. Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain server-side code and logic
- Work with big data, optimizing and transforming it to meet business requirements
- Build and maintain new performance-oriented products
- Collaborate with other engineers to design and launch new features
- Ensure high performance and responsiveness of backend services
- Deliver bug fixes with automated tests to improve product quality
- Deliver fully tested code to stabilize the system
- Participate in performance testing to identify improvement opportunities
- Design and implement small features for the product
- Participate in feature designs and implementation of a large product feature
- Research and present architecture design records for new technologies or strategies
- Strong experience with data flow and transformations
- Proficiency in Node.js
- Experience with Kafka, Postgres, Redis, and GraphQL
- Familiarity with distributed systems and microservices
- Must have venture-backed startup experience
- A college degree is required; graduating with honors is a plus
- Embrace ambiguity and test new ideas
- Naturally curious and take initiative to solve problems creatively

- Express a point of view but have low ego
- Experience working in the ecommerce space is a plus
- Production Kafka experience is a plus
