About The Position

The Senior Associate Director of Recruitment oversees various areas of Undergraduate Recruitment, including operations for Brazos Valley/Central Texas/West Texas/El Paso, Out-of-State, National Scholar, and Transfer teams. Leads efforts to enhance on-campus recruitment and enrollment initiatives related to high-academic achieving students while providing leadership and enhancing programming. In addition, this position oversees other vital duties for Undergraduate Recruitment, including department budget reviews, recruitment scholarship allocations, and liaison with various key stakeholders on and off campus.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Nine years of experience in managerial and or administrative responsibility for admissions and recruitment related functions, including a minimum of five years of supervisory experience.
  • Class “C” vehicle operator’s license or ability to obtain within 30 days of employment.
  • Working knowledge of standard office equipment and computers.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills with individuals and in a group setting.
  • Ability to work well with students and parents.
  • Ability to work well with a student population.
  • Ability to use word processing and spreadsheet programs.
  • Knowledge of financial aid programs and federal regulations relating to student financial aid.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic organization, possessing a positive attitude and is customer- service oriented.
  • Literate in the English language and able to comprehend and follow both written and verbal instructions.
  • Ability to perform accurately in a detail-oriented environment with good interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to organize and make decisions.

  • Self-motivated with the ability to coordinate and attend meetings and conferences at times beyond usual working hours.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises and provides leadership to subordinate recruiters, associate and assistant directors.
  • Provides objective and timely feedback to employees, including but not limited to, supervising, training, hiring, progressive discipline, terminations, and probationary and annual performance evaluations.
  • Oversees unit training of recruitment personnel and coordinates staff development training and scheduling.
  • May lead training sessions.
  • Mentors subordinate advisors and or Assistant Director.
  • Supports in-state and out-of-state staff in efforts to develop new markets and work with local education entities to develop future opportunities.
  • Provides leadership for assigned regions in the coordination of efforts between the main campus and regional staff.
  • Oversees regional staff operations and works with Information Technology staff and EIS staff to provide effective and efficient operations.
  • Assesses current programs and their effectiveness and makes recommendations to management.
  • Leads regional and local development and implementation of programs.
  • Serves as part of department’s leadership team.
  • Leads strategic planning for area(s) supervised and assists developing and implementing overall strategic planning.
  • Responsible for annual budgets and expense control for area(s) of responsibility.
  • Provides input, established performance goals and measures to evaluate the success of area(s) of responsibility.
  • Oversees the coordination of programs, ensuring program goals are consistent with departmental and university mission.
  • Serves on various committees and represents department at various state and national conferences.
  • Assures compliance with all unit, department, university standards, policies and procedures.
  • Oversees staff in Austin, College Station, and several cities across the United States.
  • Travels to locations for site visits, programs, meetings, etc.
  • Provides direct support to carry out the recommendations and instructions of the Executive Director of Undergraduate Recruitment & Outreach.
  • Ensures that the administration of the programs and information dissemination by regional staff is consistent with the laws, regulations, and policies governing their administration.
  • Coordinate and oversee recruitment scholarship allocations for department in partnership with Scholarships & Financial Aid.
  • Assists the Executive Director of Undergraduate Recruitment & Outreach with departmental policies and procedures, and implementing identified strategic priorities.
  • Participates in program development enhancing the recruitment & outreach activities, customer service for transition of students from prospective to admitted, the delivery of assistance to students and marketing to various segments of the population.
  • Ensures initiatives are fully developed and implemented.
  • Assists the Executive Director in the development of programs at affiliated locations, relating to compliance and functional issues.
  • Assists with the preparation of federal, state and operational reports.
  • Attends numerous official functions representing Undergraduate Recruitment.
  • Maintains membership with recognized enrollment management and recruitment related organizations at national, regional, state, and local levels and serves on various committees.
  • Assists in identifying the needs of the Recruitment team related to marketing and publications.
  • Collaborates with Marketing staff in order to develop materials and plan in advance to help meet the needs and goals of the organization.
  • Collaborates with other University offices to provide accurate and appropriate admissions and financial aid information in their respective publications.
  • Identifies and develops collaborative relationships with other departments at TAMU, other universities, colleges, organizations, and associations to improve recruitment, matriculation, and enrollment at TAMU, as well as improves the education and awareness of higher education opportunities and preparedness across the state so that the numbers of collegebound students in the state may improve sufficiently to meet the State goals of Closing the Gaps.
  • Develops and coordinates with other departments and entities early awareness campaigns and financial solutions for a TAMU education for the State, ensuring appropriate efforts for targeted segments of the state population and/or location.
  • Develops and promotes statewide, regional, and local recruitment and outreach programs.
  • Oversees coordination of presentations, workshops, and financial aid nights throughout the State and for assigned regions.
  • Serves on recruitment, outreach and early awareness committees locally, regionally, nationally, and statewide.
  • Conducts continuous improvement processes to further develop effective outreach strategies.
  • Counsels with administration to identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Reviews with the director staff the DOE’s Quality Assurance Program findings and take appropriate action as it applies to Outreach activities in the PSCs.
  • Reviews and ensures compliance with federal, state and local program regulations and audits as it relates to financial aid programs and takes appropriate corrective action.
  • Monitors policy interpretation and the communication to regional staff of updates and changes in federal and state regulations and the implementation of institutional procedures for compliance.
  • Reviews, directs, and encourages high quality work performance for all levels of staffing.
  • Assesses the effectiveness of the training program for the outreach staff and works to improve group and individual training.
