About The Position

SENIOR ANNUAL GIVING OFFICER , Alumni Association Annual Giving , to build membership in the Annual Giving Leadership Circle (AGLC). This position manages a regional portfolio of prospects capable of making annual commitments of $5,000to $100,000 and plays a key role in expanding the base of donors giving $2,500 or more. The Senior Annual Giving Officer will identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward a portfolio of 350+ prospects, conducting regular donor visits and qualifying individuals for major gift potential. The role includes partnering with colleagues across MIT to coordinate donor engagement, arranging prospect meetings and event participation, and ensuring timely documentation and follow‑up. This position requires the ability to convey the importance of unrestricted support and to advance MIT’s philanthropic priorities through strategic, relationship‑based fundraising.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • A minimum of five years of annual giving or related nonprofit fundraising experience, including conducting donor solicitations
  • Strong understanding of annual and major gift best practices
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build trust with donors, volunteers, alumni, staff, and faculty
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
  • Professionalism, discretion, and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Experience with enterprise fundraising systems such as Ellucian Advance Web or Evertrue
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Zoom
  • Required to work evening and occasional weekend hours
  • Travel required up to 40% time
