About The Position

Reporting to the Director of Individual and Major Gifts, the Annual Giving Officer is a key member of Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona’s Development team. The focus of this position is to plan and implement the annual giving program. This role focuses on leading year-round solicitations and campaigns to diverse constituents including employees, community members, and prospective donors. The Annual Giving Officer will work closely with the Director of Individual and Major Gifts to develop effective fundraising strategies and meet fundraising goals. The Annual Giving Officer will develop strategies and campaigns to secure contributions, and manage stewardship activities, including the New Donor Welcome Series. This position will serve as staff liaison for the Builder’s Circle, Habitat’s annual giving society for high level donors, working closely with the Individual Giving Team and being responsible for the implementation and management of Builder’s Circle members who have the capacity to make gifts totaling $1,500 or more each year and with a focus to secure and increase annual recurring gifts to further Habitat’s mission and the retention of its donors. Additionally, this position will oversee monthly and annual giving, plan solicitations and stewardship activities and events, and assist with donor qualification for mid-level and major gifts.

  • Ability to give and receive detailed information through verbal communication in person, by telephone, and/or at community meetings; exchange ideas and convey detailed information accurately to staff, volunteers, and others.
  • Ability to function in a fast-paced, growing and changing organization; multi-task and strategize fundraising strategies for the team.
  • Proven track record of cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding annual donors.
  • Positive personality, attitude, and professional demeanor.
  • Proficiency in using donor management databases and fundraising software.
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience of proven non-profit fundraising, donor relations, or a related field.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field (e.g., Nonprofit Management, Communications, Business) or relevant work experience preferred.
  • Ability to sit at a desk or in a meeting for extended periods of time, often several hours.
  • Ability to work 40+ hours/week, occasional Saturdays, Sundays, and evenings.
  • Ability to stand or walk for most of the day.
  • Ability to lift packages or event supplies, sometimes up to 30 pounds.
  • The ability to drive to meet with potential and/or current donors; will require a current Arizona driver’s license, a clean driving record, automobile insurance (Arizona State minimum auto insurance coverage is required to receive mileage reimbursement) and a trustworthy vehicle.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and executes annual giving solicitation plan for the fiscal year that includes fundraising strategies for direct mail, monthly giving, employee giving, and Builder’s Circle.
  • Manages and serves as the contact for questions and concerns on all Annual/Staff Campaign and digital campaigns such as Giving Tuesday and Arizona Gives Day.
  • Manages Builder’s Circle and plans its solicitation/stewardship activities and events to enhance the donor giving experience and provide excellent donor engagement through the tracking of donors by levels for tiered recognition and stewardship.
  • Work closely and in conjunction with the Chief Development Officer and Director of Individual and Major Gifts, as well as other staff, to successfully implement the Builder’s Circle Stewardship Plan and serve as the point person for driving execution of approved strategy.
  • Manages a portfolio of annual giving prospects and Builder’s Circle members, not assigned to a gift officer’s portfolio.
  • Cultivates, stewards, and solicits donors and prospects through targeted appeals/campaigns, individual in-person and virtual meetings/contacts and electronic and written appeals.
  • Develop a schedule and marketing plan for donor acquisitions and renewals.
  • Works with the Development Team to coordinate the schedule and strategies for annual giving appeals and direct mail. This includes actively supporting creative concepts, writing and editing appeal content and overseeing mailing procedures.
  • Manages New Donor Welcome Series.
  • Works with Director of Individual and Major Gifts to establish revenue goals for fiscal year.
  • Work effectively with the Director of Individual and Major Gifts to identify new donors and build strategies for engaging and encouraging donors to give at higher levels.
  • Serve as an internal committee member on fundraising events; solicit sponsorships and procure auction/raffle items and complete other tasks as assigned.
  • Other duties may be assigned as necessary.
