Position Summary Senior Analyst - Financial Reporting will be responsible for driving the preparation, review, and submission of statutory financial statements and related regulatory filings for multiple insurance entities. This role ensures compliance with NAIC guidelines, state insurance regulations, and statutory accounting principles (SAP). The senior analyst will maintain robust internal controls and communicate with regulatory agencies to ensure accurate and timely reporting. The Senior Analyst - Financial Reporting will also be responsible for coordinating with the external auditors to facilitate the financial statement audit. This role requires attention to detail and strong communication skills. The successful candidate must be intellectually curious, detail oriented, and able to operate effectively within a dynamic and evolving organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. A master's degree or relevant professional certifications (e.g., CPA, CMA) is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in insurance accounting and financial reporting
  • An understanding of financial reporting standards (GAAP, STAT) and regulatory compliance
  • Knowledge of investment and insurance principles and best practices, and a strong grasp of reinsurance concepts
  • Strategic mindset with the ability to align accounting goals with broader business objectives
  • A strong understanding of and experience in the execution of financial reporting controls
  • Effective communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders
  • Integrity and ethical leadership, promoting a culture of accountability and professionalism within the team.
  • Proven track record in fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation within the team
  • Strong organizational and project management abilities, with a focus on meeting deadlines and priorities
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Workday), Clearwater, Sovos, Workiva and MS Excel
  • Familiarity with Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools and techniques for data analysis, process automation, and financial reporting enhancements

Responsibilities

  • Drive the preparation and review of quarterly and annual statutory financial statements for multiple insurance companies
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of financial statements in accordance with statutory accounting principles (SAP) and NAIC requirements
  • Manage timely submission of all required filings, including annual and quarterly statements, MD&A’s, and Risk-Based Capital (RBC) reports
  • Monitor changes in regulatory requirements and implement necessary updates to reporting processes
  • Develop and maintain reporting calendars to ensure deadlines are met
  • Provide technical guidance on statutory accounting and reporting issues to internal teams
  • Serve as the primary contact for external auditors and state insurance examiners during financial audits and regulatory examinations
  • Maintain strong internal controls over financial reporting processes
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and applicable regulatory standards
  • Coordinate with external auditors and internal stakeholders to facilitate the timely completion of the external audit
  • Promote continuous improvement and professional development within the team.
  • Identify and implement enhancements to financial reporting processes, including automation and system improvements
