We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Aerospace Engineer to join our ESSCA contract team at NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville, AL. If selected you will: Analysis of launch vehicle and spacecraft, dynamics, equations of motion, and trajectories to assess performance of spacecraft ascent trajectories, mission analysis, and related studies Modeling ascent and in-space environments, errors, disturbances, GN&C algorithms, sensors, actuators, and mechanisms Simulate and analyze nominal, contingency, and failure scenarios during ascent and in-space flight Develop algorithms and tools to analyze 6 DOF trajectories using Monte Carlo techniques Perform Guidance studies and insight analysis for NASA's HLS program Execute/modify existing software/scripts in C, Python, C++ Help develop and improve NASA's Post/Copernicus simulations Qualifications: This position has been posted at multiple levels. A degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or related field from an ABET accredited institution is required. Typical experience requirements are the equivalent of a PhD with at least 24 years of experience, a Masters with at least 28 years of experience, or BS with at least 30 years of experience. To be successful in this position, the applicant must be detail oriented, work independently and collaboratively, possess strong communication and interpersonal skills, and will typically possess some of the following skills: Dynamically model 3 and 6 DOF single body systems Python, Matlab, Fortran, C++ programming experience Familiarity with Linux, Bash, and the use of computational clusters/servers Support the design, integration, and analysis of GN&C products. Configure, conduct, and analyze 3-DOF and 6 DOF Monte Carlo simulations. The candidate is REQUIRED to have the following skills and experiences: PhD or similar extensive experience in plasma physics Significant experience in mission analysis of major NASA programs Duties: Day to day activities include: Dynamic modeling of 6 DOF single body systems Flight mechanics analysis Guidance insight analysis Creating, editing and debugging software written in C, Python, Matlab, Fortran, and C++. Optimization and improvement of analysis tools and GN&C models. Working with GN&C leads and other engineering disciplines. Supporting the verification and validation of technical products. Creation and review of engineering and software documentation. Preparing and Presenting technical reports and briefings.
