About The Position

The Senior Accountant is responsible for supporting the oversight of period end close processes, preparing and reviewing various tax and compliance filings, and contributing to process improvement and optimization. This position will report directly to the Seaboard Energy Division Accounting Manager and work closely with the Division Controller to strengthen internal controls, support audit requests with internal and external teams, provide mentorship of accounting staff, and improve documentation of policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business required
  • 4+ years of progressive accounting experience required
  • Experience reporting financials in accordance with U.S. GAAP required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities, tasks, and projects effectively
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong organizational and time‑management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including strong Excel skills

Nice To Haves

  • MBA or Master of Accountancy (MAcc) strongly preferred
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) strongly preferred
  • Experience working for a publicly traded company strongly preferred
  • Experience with JDE (JD Edwards) and/or OneStream preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and assist in various GL accounting duties, including research, analysis, reconciliation, journal entry review, transaction entry, and financial statement preparation
  • Oversee timely and accurate period-end close processes, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and supporting schedules to ensure financial statements are complete and compliant with GAAP
  • Support technical accounting research needs and new guidance implementation in accordance with GAAP including preparation of memos to improve policy and procedure documentation
  • Contribute to internal and external audit requests through preparation of schedules, coordination with outside departments, and organization of supporting documentation
  • Prepare and review various tax, compliance, and regulatory filings ensuring information reported is complete and accurate and submissions are completed timely
  • Collaborate alongside department leadership on new system implementations and updating of processes to improve efficiency and accuracy of reporting
  • Other special projects as assigned by management
