About The Position

The Ohio Farm Bureau Federation (OFBF) is dedicated to supporting and advancing the agricultural community throughout Ohio. As a statewide organization rooted in advocacy, education, and member service, OFBF works to ensure that agriculture remains a strong, sustainable, and vital industry. We are seeking a Senior Accounting Assistant who will play an important role in supporting our county offices and subsidiaries by providing timely, accurate, and effective financial and accounting services. The Senior Accounting Assistant is responsible for maintaining complete and accurate financial records for County Farm Bureaus and related projects, ensuring monthly financial reporting is delivered accurately and on time. This position prepares and classifies accounting entries including cash disbursements, cash receipts, billings, and journal entries, and performs monthly intercompany reconciliations for payables and receivables. The role also manages the preparation of 1099 reporting, maintains county investment records, and prepares documentation for county financial self-audits, attending those audits as requested. In addition, this position manages County Farm Bureau bi-weekly payroll processing and related payroll changes, ensuring compliance and accuracy in all payroll functions. The Senior Accounting Assistant partners closely with county staff to understand their accounting needs, provide meaningful financial data, and enhance their ability to utilize that information effectively. The individual must be comfortable reconciling transactions between systems, including CRM platforms, and maintaining proficiency in all clerical and accounting functions within the department. Ongoing professional development is expected, and attendance at special meetings or conferences may be required to strengthen technical and management expertise. Additional assignments may be directed by the Finance Director of County Operations or Organizational Directors to support accurate and effective county financial management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or a related field or an associate degree in accounting combined with three or more years of direct accounting experience may also be considered.
  • One to three years of experience in an accounting environment
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles, financial statement interpretation, reconciliations, and payroll processes.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks, Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and CRM systems is required.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, able to manage multiple deadlines, and skilled at identifying and resolving discrepancies.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, collaborative relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods and work at a computer.
  • The position will require some travel for meetings and or training.
