About The Position

This position is crucial in overseeing the financial close process. The Sr. Accountant is responsible for executing journal entries, performing reconciliations, ensuring balance sheet accuracy, reviewing expenses, and managing credit card oversight. This role involves significant interaction with Accounting, Operations, and Finance leadership to ensure the business is always prepared for review at close.

Requirements

  • Proficiency in general ledger and reconciliation.
  • Experience with month-end close and balance sheet ownership.
  • Strong skills in Excel, including pivot tables, vlookups, and basic formulas.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, NetSuite, or Microsoft Dynamics.
  • Associate's degree in accounting or business.
  • 4+ years of progressive US GAAP accounting experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in manufacturing, distribution, or PE-backed environment preferred.
  • Hands-on experience with fixed assets and capital accounting.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and post monthly journal entries, including accruals, prepaids, and payroll-related entries.
  • Own assigned components of the month-end close checklist, ensuring accuracy, completeness, and timeliness.
  • Ensure the books are materially complete and review-ready prior to Controller and corporate-level review.
  • Own assigned balance sheet accounts and related reconciliations, including cash, prepaids, and fixed assets.
  • Maintain cash account reconciliations and support daily and weekly cash visibility.
  • Investigate reconciling items proactively and resolve issues with urgency.
  • Escalate open items with clear context, root cause, and recommended resolution.
  • Maintain reconciliation support consistent with internal controls, audit, and lender expectations.
  • Own fixed asset accounting and related balance sheet reconciliations.
  • Partner with Operations to ensure appropriate capitalization and asset placement.
  • Review expenses with attention to facility consolidation activities.
  • Maintain monthly budget vs. actual reporting by department, including variance identification.
  • Distribute monthly department-level spend reports to budget owners and support follow-up questions.
  • Review credit card transactions for accuracy and policy compliance.
  • Exercise strong judgment in determining issues that need escalation.
  • Work closely with Operations, AP, and Finance leadership to resolve issues.
  • Track Department spend vs budget and provide timely data to Finance Leadership.
